That row of randomly placed an Fran themed restrooms crammed between the Grizzly Rapids, Little Mermaid Pier style building and the winery is really going to look out of place. As if it were dropped in by mistake. They should almost theme the outside of that building to match the winery. At least then we would have some continuity.

I'm pretty sure the SF theming is history, but I don't know what the new theme will be. I just called it SF bathrooms for lack of a better name.

Hmm... from the models it looks like Little Mermaid will act as a transition between San Francisco and Paradise Pier. I'm not thinking they'll look too out of place when they finish Little Mermaid's facade.

Well, The Little Mermaid facade will remain close to the current style of Golden Dreams.

Huh? No it won't, it's going to be totally different. Much more ornate and classical feeling then the plain curved wall with murals. The whole building will look more like the Palace of Fine Arts rotunda.

I think that's what Luke was getting at.

Hmmm.. is that why they did not decorate those buildings for Christmas then?? They wanted to get right in immediately after the holidays and start work? Hope that is not the excuse they used..

What is currently in those SF buildings on the east side? And 2 months is clearly not that much time to do anything but install bathrooms, so I assume there will be no theme changes - those will come in Phase 2 maybe when the whole wharf area gets a redo?

It was before my time, but wasn't there an arcade in there previously?

The only thing that's ever been in there, to my knowledge, is something to do with the holiday fireworks show back in 2001, LuminAria.

And the arcade during the X-Games. There was something else to, but I don't remember.

The word is that those new bathrooms will loose the San Francisco victorian style facade and will get a new facade that will fit better with the Mermaid building next to it. The row is houses is suppose to fade into yesterland.

The buildings are empty so adding restrooms in there should go quickly.

I wonder though if they will go ahead an dtear out facades while the inside is being retroffited or if they will do facades when Mermaid building is getting its facade done

This is the crux of the question for me, especially since construction is only slated to last about 12 weeks.

Can they build full bathrooms in there without interfering with the current facades and then tear out the existing facade later yet keep the bathrooms operational? Or is there enough time now to tear the whole thing down and build it once from scratch?
