![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II However, something like Space Mountain isn't a dark ride because there are no detailed sets during the attraction. It's just a very spruced-up rollercoaster in the dark. Tower, on the other hand, has a pair of detailed sets and isn't all thrills.

Woah woah woah! Space is definatly a dark ride. It's extremely dark. But that's a different meaning all together. Now, would you consider Splash to be a dark ride? Or Nemo?

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II IMO, dark rides aren't just attractions in the dark. They are themed experiences. Space Mountain is mostly coaster, and the lift hill scenes aren't all that detailed. Now, you may say Crush's Coaster is the same thing, but their lift scenes are much more detailed and feature moving figures and film effects alongside a detailed coral/submarine environment. I'd consider Splash Mountain and Nemo as dark rides in the same sense of Tower of Terror, Indy, and Crush's Coaster. Unique variations on a typical dark ride. Oh, and I guess this kills the Narnia attraction idea: Disney says goodnight to 'Dawn Treader'

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I know Space isn't a 'dark-ride'. I was saying it's a ride in the dark. I was just having fun. |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II A dark ride does not mean it is a ride in the dark. A "dark ride" is usually considered a slower moving attraction that uses blacklight and painted sets. Space mt is NOT adark ride in this sence. Indiana Jones does use the blacklight effect and could be considered a dark ride I guess but not in the traditional sense. |

Let me give that to you one more time: Space is definatly a dark ride. It's extremely dark. But that's a different meaning all together. There you go. Just in case anybody else doesn't understand what I was saying. This topic also moved to it's own forum, so back to DCA updates.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Soooo now that Disney's giving up on the Narnia franchise by cutting their involvement with Dawn Treader I'm guessing this doesn't bode well for a Narnia attraction replacing Muppetvision. I'm not exactly disappointed by that news...

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I'm glad that, if Muppet-Vision does close, we'll hopefully get Philharmagic to replace it. Philharmagic is just as good of an attraction as Muppet-Vision is, even though it'll be sad when and if they close it.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Blueskydisney has an update. It got bumped down already with a few other updates. It talks about the Maliboomer and the walkway around the fun wheel. |

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Specifically that the Maliboomer is going to stay because it would cost too much to take it down right now and the money can be better spent elsewhere, and that the walkway around the FunWheel will not be built at this time. Those are both a little disappointing, but I'd rather have a top-notch Little Mermaid, Carsland and entrance, and get the put-off extras in Phase 2.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II I think it was mentioned that it would be removed at the end of phase one, but now due to the cost of doing so it probably won't be. Also per the blue sky blog it may get a new theme to fit the rest of the pier until it's removed.

![]() | Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II Oooo... I'm not sure how I feel about the Maliboomer staying. It's a fun ride, but I'm not sure how they could theme it to fit with the pier. I really hope they add that walkway around the Fun Wheel, it's a nice idea and one I'd love to see happen.
