Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

It is difficult to put the genie back in the bottle. There have been instances in which a family has bought up all the outstanding shares in the company they founded, but these are rare. During Walt's time, he was usually heavily leveraged in order to realize his ambitions, and didn't have the capital to buy back all the shares.

It would have been better for him to have arranged just a few significant investors (like he did with ABC) to provide the short term support he needed, In that way, he wouldn't have the huge number of investors to buy back from. With venture capital investors available, I can't really understand why anyone with a viable product would go public for investment capital.

I decorate my house for Christmas. Where are the massive numbers and attraction overlays there? Yes they do, they always have. Tradition. Of coarse it brings in the numbers, every theme park does exceptionally well during Xmas, not just Disneyland.

Yes, but why do you think that they are adding more and more Christmas decor and shows?? It pulls in all of the numbers. When they first started the tradition, it was propobly because they wanted big numbers too!!

Disneyland isn't the only park that does well during the holiday season.

It's a small world holiday and Haunted Mansion Holiday aren't there to salute the season. They are there to up the numbers, get more people into the park, and get them to buy stuff.

Halloween is a good example: it was basically ignored for the longest time by the resort, then they realized that they can pack them in, up the usually-low attendance numbers, and sell a bunch of merch if they do a big Halloween promo. And it's been a huge success.

Christmas may be a tradition, but there's a fine line between a tradition and a promotion. Christmas is certainly stuck in middle, if not treading more to the promo side.

Imagineerfan has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

I just got back from DCA and noticed that Mickey's Fun Wheel has gotten a quarter turn so painting can continue on the next section. Looks like work is moving right along.

Also, the Tyvek on the Games of the Boardwalk has gotten some numbers painted on it, looks to me as if it is labeling the size of the wood siding that is to be applied to each area.

The concrete around the base of the Orange Stinger has been cut and looks ready for removal and a small section of the raised ring around the base that had the lights on it has been broken apart as well. So it looks like work on that will start in earnest real soon.

It is exciting to see all of the changes happening on a weekly basis.

As far as the Fun Wheel is concerned' I am glad they are changing the color scheme. I belive the original plan was just remove the sun and put Mickey on.
