So, do you think that "What Will You Celebrate?" would be a great tradition to continue year after year in between the holiday traditions? And how about splitting that with a "Year of a Million Dreams" tradition?

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

^There is a huge difference between a yearly marketing event centered around a holiday and a promotion that is meant to only last a year. Christmas comes once every year, and a successful Christmas event is bound to be something that is brought back year after year. A promotional campaign is usually not centered around a yearly event and therefore generally does not return the next year unless it is highly successful or the company just decides to bring it back.

Christmas and Halloweentime are not traditions at the DL Resort, in that they are not around for nostalgic purposes. If either event brought in below average numbers, they would be cut or beefed-up, suggesting that the only importance of the events is to draw crowds.

Back to the topic at hand...

Has anything started to happen at the Timon Lot aside from housing construction equipment?

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

Baloo do you know if the store facades will look more like the model in the Bluesky Cellar or the illustration they have looking at the side of the Fun Wheel and the boardwalk? The version in the illustration looks a lot nicer, I really hope that's the version they're going to do.

Jack hammers were heard pounding away at the street in front of Fortuosity and the switch tracks.

I agree, I love the look/design of those new store facades pictured in that concept art. Its hard to tell what came first, the art work or the model in the Blue Sky Cellar. However, the art work also shows what looks like an elaborate marquee or archway over the entrance to the Fun Wheel, but no elaborate queue building is shown. MiceAge.com is reporting today in their 1-19-09 Dateline Disneyland report that the funding for the Fun Wheel queue has been reallocated. So maybe Disney is going the direction of the art work for the pier with a large Victorian style entrance way for the Fun Wheel with no queue and more elaborate shop facades instead? This seems opposite of the model where is looks like more money was planned to be spent on the Fun Wheel changes with its pier around the base and covered queue. As I like to say, time will tell. I'm still worried about these re-allocations" at the Fun Wheel. I hope there are a few thousand dollars left laying around that WDI is given to dress up the concrete walls of the Fun Wheel queue.

I think the facades will look most like the ones in this picture:

The picture seems to be the most updated with the Games, and TSMM Facades dead on point.

Re: Disney's California Adventure Project Tracker II

Good detective work ICe101!

I think you have possibly solved the mystery. You will also notice the piece of concept art you found has no visible queue covering and no pier out around the wheel. Instead, there seems to be a fence of some sort that sits on top of the concrete dam. Maybe a themed element to soften the concrete wall look? I can't really make out too much detail in the shop facades, but there does appear to be some taller buildings down toward the Maliboomer.

....side note here: If they have/do decide to keep the Maliboomer, I hope they give it a new name. Heck, even "High Striker" would work if the ride's current "theme" is kept intact.

Did anyone see all of the light poles removed from the amphitheater in the last photo?

Yes, the only thing noticably different is the color of the Fun Wheel. But that could have easily changed last minute.

As for Maliboomer, repainting the skins of the tower and revamping the top I think could buy the ride quite a bit of time.

Also, something I also wonder is which TLM facade is most likely to come:

Or

I personally favor the first one but I could bet it is more epensive. The second one I also like alot I would just like the stain glass on top.
