Smile Best NON-DISNEY Song To Describe The Disneyland Resort

Music has played an important role in the success of Disney. Their songs have helped bring deeper emotion and diverse amounts of energy to some of their all-time greatest films. Here are a few examples with not one being better than another:

    1. "Hakuna Matata" (The Lion King)
    2. "Beauty And The Beast" (Beauty And The Beast)
    3. "Candle On The Water" (Pete's Dragon)
    4. "Baby Mine" (Dumbo)
    5. "Once Upon A Dream" (Sleeping Beauty)
    6. "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" (Cinderella)
    7. "Under the Sea" (The Little Mermaid)
    8. "Miracles Happen (When You Believe) (The Princess Diaries)
    9. "Best Of Friends" (Fox And The Hound)
    10. "A Whole New World" (Aladdin)
    11. "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" (Mary Poppins)
    12. "Heigh-Ho" (Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs)
    13. "You've Got A Friend In Me" (Toy Story)
    14. "Colors Of The Wind" (Pocahontas)
Music has also been a critical element within Disney's attractions at their theme parks - past and present. Again, a few examples:

    1. "Grim, Grinning Ghots" (The Haunted Mansion)
    2. "Yo Ho (A Pirates Life For Me)" (Pirates Of The Caribbean)
    3. "Baroque Hoedown" (Main Street Electrical Parade)
    4. "Miracles From Molecules" (Adventure Thru Inner-Space)
    5. "The Monorail Song" (Disneyland Monorail)
    6. "Swisskapolka" (Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse)
    7. "The Bakery Theme" (The Boudin Bakery)
    8. "All Aboard The Mine Train" (Mine Train Through Nature's Wonderland)
    9. "Soarin'" (Soarin' Over California)
    10. "The Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room" (The Enchanted Tiki Room)
    11. "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" (Carousel Of Progress)
    12. "Remember When" - LeAnn Rimes (Disneyland 50th anniversary theme song)
All these songs have helped sum up what Disney is and has become. They spark a sense of joy, happiness, and wonder in the hearts of all who have come in contact with them.

With all of that said I want to know which NON-DISNEY song do you believe sums up what Disney and/or The Disneyland Resort stands for. Is there a certain tune that simply stands out to you that you know deep in your heart would work beautifully with and for Disney/Disneyland?

There's a moment in John Williams' soundtrack for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that always reminds me of Disneyland, even though it's certainly not part of the ride (which was created thirteen years earlier). It's a ten-second passage, starting around 0:33 in "The Journey to Akator."

Simple and to the point - I just did "something" and now I'm going to Disneyland.

Definitely "What a wonderful world" by Louie Armstrong. It was on the Disneyland Story (circa 1991 version) while showing some footage of Walt walking the orage groves and early phases of construction and so on. Such a perfect fit it makes my sister and I teary-eyed just hearing it! It just reminds us of "home." Also a big fan of Waking up in DL (artist forgotten), and San Dimas Football Rules by the Ataris and of course California Girls by the beach boys. Under the bridge is a particularly meaningful song to me and it makes me think of DL since it's about LA (though some claim it to be about drug usage but I disagree).

Does "Disneyland" by Howard Ashman and Marvin Hamlisch from the musical "Smile" count? Another one might be "Magic Moments" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

The resort overall - Money, Pink Floyd

Here's a few others I thought of, I'm sure others can think of a lot more.

    areas/rides

Fantasmic! - Smoke on the Water, Deep Purple

Alice in Wonderland - Incense & Peppermints, Strawberry Alarm Clock

Indiana Jones - Born to be Wild, Steppenwolf

Jungle Cruise - Green River, CCR

Mr Lincoln (if he EVER comes back) - Mr Roboto, Styx

Finding Nemo - Yellow Submarine, The Beatles

    Other/optional music

The DCA makeover - All I need is a Miracle, Mike & the Mechanics

its a small world - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, Iron Butterfly (I'm going to bring my ipod and try this when it opens up again, maybe that will make it more "relevant")

Passholders (but not me) - People are Strange, The Doors
