Walk past and find a shorter line somewhere else, get a fastpass or single rider it.
Like dland_lover, I mainly avoid the long lines. But if I find it worthwhile to stand in a given line of considerable length, I try first and foremost to appreciate whatever theming is there. In places like Indy or HM, there's certainly no effort required for that. If the theming is meager, though, or if the line is moving really slowly, I mostly resort to a combo of taking photos and talking with the people I'm with.
Talk to all the people around you that are also waiting in line. You get to know alot of different people and it is cool.
Usually I bust out my blackberry, too bad there isn't a client that gives you wait times for other attractions while in line!
Class of 2005...
Look for funny looking guests, especially with obvious wigs and/or mullets and rat tails and get some great candid photos!

That's funny! We used to do the same thing on video and call it "Fashion Disaster" - we were so horrible!
Something else we do (pre-child) was take along out "Catch Phrase" game which is a little, hand held game and it was great fun.......and we used to get people in line excited and watching us.......it wasn't our plan to do that, but it sort of just happened.....and the time in long lines would pass so quickly.....![]()
Avoid them.

You've read it; you can't unread it!
I get out my cellphone and play pacman or star wars. Because in lines I get easily bored. and im not good at communicating with other people.
Wait patiently, enjoy the scenery.
However, try to avoid lines.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
Life is too short, there's always another attraction with a shorter wait time!
First Visit at the age of 12, July 17, 1968.First Ride, The Disneyland and Santa Fe Railroad.BRING BACK THE PEOPLE MOVER!
Walt built Disneyland so people would slow down. Life is fast enough as it is. Why then shall we protest a line that is longer than fifteen minutes?
This is what I think makes DL superior to many parks including portions of DCA. The ride is more than just he brief time you are in the car. For me, the queue area is part of the attraction. Granted some are better than others. But generally its always better than the typical swtichbacks that you'll see at Magic Mountain. Thinking this way I think increases the fun-ness of the attraction.
I wish I still had my Indy translator to figure out the writings on the wall. I do wish that the spikes and rocks were turned on more. Reading the headstones in the mansion is always fun. Watching the clock and subsequent show on IASW helps pass the time as well.
Avoiding long lines is also a good way. Seasoned vets will be able to read the park and know if attraction X is busy then Attraciton Y isnt. Additionally know that POTC can sometimes have a 45 min wait at some times and later in the same day it'll be 5. All this to say be flexable and use fastpass.
If you do stand in line, chat with those around you, plan the rest of your day, relax!
Oh and to avoid long lines around lunch or dinner either choose to eat early or late. Try having lunch at 1:30 and dinner at 7 and you'll find the lines are much shorter than at noon and 5.
I tend to not do long lines, but if we decide to go on a ride with a wait, we usually talk and go through our pictures and find stupid things in the pictures.

I enjoy talking to people who are around me. Some people are easier to talk to then others, though I find children and foreigners are the easiest to talk.
This also give me a chance to tell Stories of Disney trivia. It's one thing to know trivia about Disneyland, it's a whole other to have a story to make it interesting. Everything has a story, so why tell the ending without it?
When with certain friends I like to sing as well. Anytime we see a Happy Birthday button, we'll four part the Birthday song for them. Otherwise it's whatever Disney/Musical song comes of the top of our heads.
