    Koutesu's Trip Report

That's right. You're eyes aren't playing tricks on you. Koutesu is actually giving a trip report. While I have to be at stupid work at 7 am every morning (sorry, vacation hangover), I will be posting my trip report here in a combination of select photos, commentary, and YouTube slide shows.

We originally intended to go in August, but a few complications pushed it back to October. We went this last weekend, attending the parks on Friday and Sunday.

Those of you not in the know should know one thing. I really needed this vacation. You have probably seen what's happened in the national news or on certain shows (Inside Edition I know has run a story on this). In June, My friend/roommate, Travis Alexander, was murdered in the house we were living in at the time. Me and the other roommate didn't know if for several days since it was 3 single guys living in a 4500 sq ft house (the media keeps saying it was an apartment). With the everything going on and such a tragic event in the lives of many of us being aired on national tv, I really needed this get away.

It was me and my family on this trip. It was cheaper to drive from Mesa, Az. We stayed at the Best Western Cypress off of Katella and Knott Ave in Stanton (it was about $71/night). We drove and parked at Mickey and Friends (I love the experience of parking there for some reason).

Below is the overture of my vacation slide show. Please watch until I post some more commentary, pics, and slideshows.

Great TR so far. Thanks for sharing.

I've read an awful lot about your friend. What a senseless tragedy.

Hopefully the trip to Disneyland took your mind off things. So sorry about your friend.

I can't wait to see more of your report. I am sorry for your loss and for this community's loss. From what I have read Travis was a real inspiration to many and was willing to share his spirit and energy with others. Hopefully his killer is now behind bars and will spend the rest of her life there.

    Re: Koutesu's Trip Report

While I haven't reached that point yet in the trip report, me and my girlfriend did go to Olivewood Cemetary on Saturday to see Travis' grave. His sister did a great job on the headstone. All of us here in Arizona still feel for his family. As luck would have it, we got there the same time as Mimi, the girl Travis really liked (she was the last girl he went out with). We were supposed to be there together, especially with how much she struggles, though she has been looking better. I felt tired driving to Riverside from Anaheim as we didn't get back to our hotel from the parks until almost 1am. I considered pulling over and letting my girlfriend drive the rest of the way. As we left the cemetary, I felt I had more energy. I believe this was something Travis arranged. I know he's happy we came.

Travis is a Disney-phile like the rest of us. He held an annual pass. His favorite attraction is the Enchanted Tiki Room. When I had moved in with him, I shared the files off of the Musical History of Disneyland. He got to listen to all 3 Tiki tracks. He is also a fan of Vincent Price, so I was also able to share the Phantom Manor tracks I downloaded, which include the narration from opening day when he was the Ghost Host (this was probably his last acting job, if not, Edward Scissorhands).

The murder happened back in June. I really needed this trip. It was good to have fun and be in a place full of happy memories.

I'm finally almost done with this thing. I just have one more segment to make. I did decide to include the trip to the cemetery. It's been busy at work and girlfriends can be such time-vampires!
