commando day at Disneyland - 10-15-08

Hello all! Took the family (DW*DD-11*DS-9*DS-7 & DS-4 his first trip) to Disneyland today for the first of our 3 days in the parks. We only make the pilgrimage once every 2 to 3 years so it is usually commando mode for us most of the time. Just thought I better get this down before I collapse into bed and forget the order in which it all went down.
We started stirring around the hotel room (Best Western Park Place Inn)about 7am. Then over to the continental breakfast (what a sugar fest) at the restaurant next door a little before 8am. By 8:35 we were in the park milling around main st. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_0985.jpg
Headed straight for Nemo (with what seemed the rest of the early arrivals) and only had to wait about 35 minutes. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_0993.jpg We absolutely loved it. DS-4 got a little scared when the sub almost blew up though. Then we could not pass up taking a spin around the Autopia Track. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1000.jpg By the time we got off Autopia the 10:30 Jedi training academy was only a few minutes from stating so we watched that. None of the kids got picked but I learned a thing or two that made sure all 3 boys got picked at the 11:35 academy. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1017.jpg They loved it! In between academies we basically walked on to Space mt. And moment of truth..Yea! DS-4 was tall enough for all the 40" rides. Of course he screamed and yelled all the way through space and vowed to never ride again. But after his Jedi training he said he was brave enough to try it again. But we were ready for some food without the main ingredient being sugar so we sat down for lunch at the pizza place. (sorry I forgot he name) We decided to let our food settle a bit so we went into HISTA. Then we did Buzz, http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1046.jpg the Orbiter & Matterhorn before heading over to adventure land. We got in line for the JC while my DW went and got FP for Indy. After we got off JC we saw Captain Jack Sparrow so we followed him a while but never did catch up to him. I then remembered from the Jack & Sally thread (thank you micechat) that Jack & Sally would be out on the hour. It was on the hour so we headed over to HM and sure enough there they were. So we got the kids picture taken with them. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1069.jpg If I new how to post pics I would have a whole slew of them of most of this stuff I am mentioning. We then made our way back to Indy to use the FP. DW & DS-4 (too small) played on the tree house while the rest of us went on Indy. Everything seemed to be working great on Indy by the way. After Indy we headed over to Pirates which was a walk on and my boys loved the revamped ride. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1066.jpg Of course who wouldn't after not seeing it for 2 years. Then we went back over to HM which had a much shorter line than before so we hopped in line. And we loved the nightmare overlay. After HM we saw captain Jack again, only this time he was going towards NOS so we followed him again and found his line tucked away in the shops. Since the boys had their pirates of the Caribbean shirts on that made a great picture. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1082.jpg We then headed over to the island which I think the boys could have explored all day if we would have let them. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1096.jpg But we didn't so it was then on to BTMRR - twice in a row. We then headed over to FL and walked on to Snow White, Pinocchio & the
carousel. We had to wait bout 10 minutes for Casey Jr. then it was over to Dumbo. I can not do the spinning rides so I headed over to get a spot for the parade. The Parade was awesome! DS-4 didn't get to see the whole thing though. He fell asleep on my lap about half way through. When he awoke on our way to the storybook land boat ride he said, 'did I miss Mickey Mouse?' We told him we would visit his house on Friday so luckily he didn't get too upset. After the boat ride DW took the kids on the Tea Cups while I took some action photos on the side. http://i416.photobucket.com/albums/p...n/101_1115.jpg We then decided to beat the rush to the monorail and head over to DTD for dinner. This was the first time any of us had ever ridden the monorail. We just missed monorail red, so it was purple for us. I did not see blue all day. interesting note though, during our ride on purple the narrator said " you are riding the Mark V monorail, representing the latest technology in monorail travel" or something to that affect. Isn't this false since monorail red is a Mark VII? Curse you mice chat for over educating me on all things Disney. We then had a nice dinner at the Taqueria and walked back across to Harbor blvd since I am too cheap to stay on property. Hopefully I will have the energy to post more tomorrow as we are headed to California Adventure and the Trick or Treat party. Good night all!

That'll be one more item ticked off my bucket list!

I thought "these unofficial" days are getting out of control.
