Re: Which attraction/restaurant/store smells the worst?

I once smelled foul odors on Tom Sawyer's Island when some kid decided he couldn't make it to the restroom and decided to go in the caves.

On a hot day, the subs were horrible... this is not exclusive to the Nemo Subs version... even the classics (which were technically the same subs) had this issue! Something about everyone sweating outside and then stuffing everyone in a small tube and cycling stale air... not a good thing.

The very worst smell that I'm aware of is at the designated smoking areas. The benzene and exhaust fumes at the Autopia are also nasty.

    I concur. Ew!

I've never smelled that, fortunately, but maybe there is a piece of moonrock lodged somewhere.

This subject has probably been beaten to death years ago, but I remember one particularly funny smoking incident at Big Thunder Mountain. This was long before the designated smoking areas were created, but smoking has not been allowed indoors or in queues for as long as I can remember. One time there was this guy smoking like a chimney in line, and one of the CMs announced over the PA system: "We would like to remind guests that smoking is not permitted while waiting in line for this attraction. Thank you," (something like that) twice, but the guy just ignored him. The CM finally pointed the offender out, describing his clothing in detail on the PA to everybody, and told him in an extremely annoyed, condescending, deadpan tone: "That's right, you, sir. Will you put out your cigarette or do I have to come down there and dump a bucket of water on your head?" The guy finally put out his cigarette, and some guests actually applauded.

Haha I thought it might have ended in "aca", but that's just the first word that came to mind in this thread.

My least favorite smell is being crop-dusted in line or while milling about in crowds. You all know who you are! NOT COOL!

The sewage smells, smoking areas and Autopia top my list as "other" nasty park smells.

that seems a little harsh for a cm to say.

As you come around the backside of Tomorrowland Terrace, it wreaks......not sure if it's the sewer or what, but whatever it is, it doesn't give me much home in "Tomorrow", that's for sure. They really need to fix that.......

To be honest, it's probably the rudest thing I've ever heard a CM say to a guest, whether it's over a PA system or not. That said, the offender had been asked very politely to stop smoking on at least two occasions (I had just gotten in line), and was clearly being defiant, as guests around him were also telling him to stop. Given the circumstances, just about everybody found the CM's embarrassment tactic quite amusing, which I'm sure was the intention. Humorously threatening somebody who is openly defying the rules of the park is better than having to get security personnel to remove him by force.

The smoking areas are an obvious one.

As far as attractions alone, Autopia can be stifling. And this may just be me but I don't like the smell in the Star Tours loading area. It's like a suffocating plasticy smell.

By the way Izzy, thank you for using the term "crop-dusted". It made me giggle. Especially gross when you're waiting in line.

    First Disneyland Trip: Oct. 1989
    Mandatory first ride: POTC
Mandatory food: Clam chowder in bread bowl & a churro (not at the same time though)
    Next trip goals:
    1) Ride the Casey Jr. Circus Train. I didn't get around to it on this past trip.
    2) Get over to TSI.
    3) Try a jalapeño/cheese pretzel. Yummy!

I almost said "Stitch's Great Escape!" But then I remembered that this is only Disneyland.

.... *shrugs* I don't remember any horrid smells last time I went. I think I was having too much fun with friends to notice

I de-bolded it because I hate whole paragraphs in bold but... depending on the time frame I may know who said that. 3 or 4 names came to mind when I was reading it. One even gave the "rocket science" spiel when trying to convince the queue that Thunder was down and they had to evac the line. Please realize this post is not in support of any CM being rude to any Guest, merely an observation of who likely would have said what was posted.

I concur the random sewage smells from around the park. Also, During the very hot days, most queues smell funky. I think Indy is the worst smelling queue though. Especially in the bat caverns.

The Tomorrowland Terrace has one of the worst smells out there. Between the overpriced slop they serve there and the garbage collection station on the north side of the dance floor, I have to hold my breath or I just about puke!

BLAB's queue tends to have a strong alkaline battery smell.

I'm not a huge fan of the smoking areas as well. Especially last month when the area around HM was boarded up and the only one to get to Critter Country was by walking by the path right outside the smoking area.

Newstand, by the package hold window sometimes builds up a mighty sewage smell.

Pretty much any water attraction just smells stagnant.

And the obvious.....the Baby Care Center.
