I'm thinking Matterhorn but that's got some sentimental value for everyone...Not Splash, Not Big Thunder...I might need to go with Space! Ahh! I don't know....

And this ride is guaranteed to become your very favorite ride at the park - yea! (And yes, it will fit in perfectly with the theme, quality, etc., etc. You will have absolutely nothing to complain about! There will only be love for this ride!)

But you have an important decision to make. To make room for your new favorite ride, you MUST demolish one of these old rides forever and ever - oh no!

    • Splash Mountain
    Which will you demolish?
Splash Mountain. I don't even care if they replace it with anything. Just to be rid of it and CC would be reward enough.

Splash, it a thematic mess and there are too many days where the water makes it not worth riding.

Don't boo me but they can update the Matterhorn with an Everest-- the mountain will still be there as an icon, yes slightly different but the ride will be updated to be more thrilling IMO

Now...I've heard a variety of complaints against Splash, many of which I can relate to. But on the grounds of theme? That's not one you hear too often. I assume you're talking about its appropriateness to Critter Country, not its own internal thematic consistency? After all, it seems thoroughly consistent with itself, but Critter Country is a rather confused little land.

since this is a hypothetical questions we have to assume that money is no object. That being the case, a true imagineer would, IMO, think outside the box and find a solution to provide a new E-ticket ride while working around the mountains.

Not that I am making a choice on the matter but i would have to narrow it down to Splash or Matterhorn. But I don't think I could actually choose. Matterhorn has the history and iconic nature behind it but a lousy (for DL standards) queue and a rough ride. Splash has elevated a typical log ride to new heights and has a plethora of Disney touches that makes it magical but lacks the history and although a mountain isnt quite the icon of the Matterhorn at least historically.

No matter how well themed the ride is, when you drop it into an inappropriate place, it is a mess.

This is an easy one for me. Splash Mountain without question.

There aren't many rides at DLR that I would pick Splash over. I don't really care for it, and the 2 or 3 times we ride it per year are enough.

I'd have to vote Splash. Now, I hate the Matterhorn, but it is an institution. Space Mountain is loads of fun, as is Big Thunder. But Splash? I was always bothered by the poor use of the culled America Sings AAs and the charm of the ride isn't enough to justify the long wait.

And now, with the single seat logs, its only asset is gone.

    This is an evil question...

But the Matterhorn is an icon for the park so it cannot go. Space Mountain is also an icon and probably the most popular ride of the park.

So it is between Big Thunder or Splash. I picked Splash because it has only limited popularity during the winter because people don't like getting wet. I think Splash is a great ride, but of the choices presented, it would be the weakest link. Ba-bye!

    Re: Sophie's Choice: Disneyland Style!

I'd have to go with Splash as well. I think that ride is great and all, but it just doesn't stand up to the quality or history of the other attractions. BTMRR is super immersive in its theming, and a fuuuuun coaster. Space is superb in its theming as well, and of course the great soundtrack to boot. Matterhorn is by far the most historic and iconic of the choices. It was the first tubular steel coaster IN THE WORLD, and Disneyland's first official thrill ride. Not to mention all the sentimental value it holds for so many people. Splash is the most recently opened attraction out of the choices, and I would have to choose it to demolish for a new attraction. Hopefully, they would preserve the America Sings AAs, though. AND think about making another log ride in the future.

    Re: Sophie's Choice: Disneyland Style!

I'm changing my answer from Splash to...Space Mountain! OMG! What am I thinking?!

I'm thinking this: The key parts of the question are that this new ride will be my very favorite ride at Disneyland, and it will be appropriately themed to its location. Most of us are thinking, "Let's get rid of my 4th-favorite mountain, and that way I don't lose much."

Here's another approach: Which would you rather have:
    • A new Frontierland-themed ride in place of BTMRR.
    • A new whatever-land-Matterhorn-is-in-themed ride.
    • A new Critter Country-themed ride
    • A new Tomorrowland-themed ride

To me, Space is a viable answer because this ride will be so good it will be better than Space Mountain and it will have some sort of futuristic theme. I'd be willing to give up Space Mountain to see that.

(Or at least I'm willing to suggest it to see what you all think!)

I agree. I guess I would still argue that it's the rest of Critter Country that needs to be removed, not Splash, though.
