What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

With all the talk about the new changes for DCA, I thought it might be fun to think about a new dining experience for DCA.

What I am talking about is an immersive experience that is as much fun as the food. WDW has many experiences like this... from the dining in a giant aquarium at the Coral Reef restaurant... dining as a princess in a castle at the Royal Table, to having dinner with "Mom" in a 1950's kitchen at the 50's Prime Time... muching down in a car watching old Sci Fi movies under the stars at the Sci Fi Dine In Theater.

You get my idea. What kind of experience would you like to see at DCA?

Let's see, a California CLASSIC..

In-n-Out Burger

Also would love to see a good Sushi place (miss the old Wolfgang Puck Cove Bar Menu, also had great Clam Chowder!)

Bring back the Chinese, a Pick Up Stix's would be a great option.

There's already a thread about this, more or less. It's inclusive to both parks, but there's still a lot of peoples ideas for DCA restaurants.

Create a restaurant for the park

While In-n-Out Burger is one of my favorite places to eat. I was thinking more of an experience that you would not normally be able to experience anywhere else. I believe that Disney should stand for a really unique experience. A good example of this is the Blue Bayou restaurant. While the food is good there, it is more about the experience of dining along a bayou at night.

The drive-thru window could pose traffic problems and limited revenue for Disney.

I wouldn't. The place needs attractions value, not restaurants, IMO.

Re: What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

I would like to see the Hollywood n' Dine (I think that's the name) come back. I never knew about it until I saw it on the Yesterland site and I like the themed/food court idea. But it should come back in a better location.

I also second the idea of sushi but I'm not sure how many park goers would feel the same way.

1) Ride the Casey Jr. Circus Train. I didn't get around to it on this past trip.
2) Get over to TSI.
3) Try a jalapeņo/cheese pretzel. Yummy!

Re: What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

I would have to respectfully agree and disagree Datameister. I think DCA needs less gift shops but more attractions and restaurants. Like JiminyCricketFan said, some really nicely themed restaurants a la Blue Bayou (but with better food and more decent prices).

Re: What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

In-n-Out would actually be a good idea to me. Granted, its not Disney, but it still fits the theming because it IS a California staple. Perhaps a themed restaraunt in Carsland, sponsored by In-n-Out. Those burgers are a part of this state, and I think the eatery would fit in pretty well with DCA.

Re: What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

Alright, here is a starter idea...

How about building a replica of a giant sequoia and put a restaurant in it. Kids love tree houses. Here one could dine in a tree with maybe some animatronic squirrels and birds. Maybe a bear could show up. Have views of the park from the tree. Have a water wheel bring up water to where the restaurant is.

This thought is just inspired by the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. I always wanted to live in that place as a kid. If you cannot live there, the next best place is to have lunch or dinner there.

One of the things that WDW does right is their offering of restaurants. I learned there that dining can be as much fun as a ride. If you have ever been to Whispering Canyon Restaurant at WDW and asked for catchup you know what I mean.

People line up every day to dine at the Blue Bayou. Having lunch in the castle at WDW must be booked months in advance. It is not about the food. Guests want the experience. I believe that for Disneyland to really be a RESORT, the dining options really should be over the top. It is not about just grabbing a burger so that you can ride the next ride faster. It is about experiencing a fantasy, a different place or time, that makes the restaurant special and makes the place a Disney resort.

Re: What new restaurant would you put in DCA?

Ok, here is another idea just to give you a sample of what I am talking about...

This would be an enclosed restaurant, but it would be on a turn-table. The core of the restaurant would rotate around a ever changing scene of the bay of San Francisco at dusk. It would give the illusion you are on a ship for a cruise of the bay. It would take you by the golden gate bridge, Alcatraz island, Pier 49, and have a view of the downtown. Now this place would not exactly be kid oriented but I think it would be romantic enough to be a really popular restaurant. Maybe enhance the illusion by adding real water flowing around the guest's table. Everyone would get a table by the edge of the ship and so on.
