>>Was the Little Mermaid any less fantasy than the faries? I'm not a big fan of either but both are beyond the scope of reality.<<

But The Little Mermaid was a tastefully done grotto that blended in with the environment in a subtle manner - - a Fantasyland tease - - not a garish out-of-scale giant fairyland.

Big difference.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

Though I didn't go in because of the long queue, I did peak through the blades and got a sudden chill right down to my bones... flashbacks of the horror that was Light Magic entered my head. Not exactly the same, obviously, but I could almost hear that damn song looking on. As has been mentioned previously, I appreciate that it's all wrapped behind not just the blades of grass, but beyond that another layer of even more subtle, natural greenery. I just wish it would have extended over the merch stands, which do glare... but I guess that's the point.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

First of all, THANKS! to everyone who posted pictures of the newest completed makeover of DL! Congratulations to the Imagineers who made what appears to be a successful transformation from King Triton's Garden, into Pixie Hollow.

My feeling EXACTLY, from months ago. Princess Dot's Puddle park is a complete waste of space, and has two large areas dead center in the middle of Flik's Fun Fair. That would have been the Perfect area, with the already oversized "forest". I understand Tink's tie to DL, BUT if they are trying to bring more attention to DCA - a giant Teapot would still look better in FFF.

I too miss King Triton's Gardens, and it's previously turned off jumping fountain - in fact that was THE ONLY water play area I liked in Either park. And It seemed so perfect to have Disney's 1st Princess, Snow and her fountain and wishing well, right next to Ariel, the 1st Disney Princess of Disney's second Golden Age. We can only hope that Imagineers improve upon the old King Triton Garden, with a much Improved King Triton Garden in DCA.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

So just for clarification, will there ever not be pixies in pixie hollow? Some of us would rather just appreciate the scenery, although the "scenery" you take your picture with isn't all that bad in the first place.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

There are always the bronze pixies - but I'm sure the 5 main pixies have time away from the hollow, to tend to their flora, fauna, and uh, tinkering.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

I also think they did a great job on Pixie Hollow. I have yet to see it all in person, but seeing it only from the outside, they did a great job hiding it. It is not as garish as some may think from the outside. It blends in very well with the other trees and bushes that have been there. Hopefully you will be able to just walk through after all the Pixies are gone for the day. There was some cool lighting I could make out in there..

I just hope all those merchandise carts will be gone by after the Holidays once the hype dies down. It really junks up the exit.

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

MMP- Thank you for showing, via pictures that the fairies are switched out (as in the characters... not trying to ruin the magic here).

Aladdin & merlin- While I was skeptical of placing Pixie Hollow so close to Tomorrowland, I have to say that the end result is amazing. As I said previously I had this mental image of a giant teapot stuck between Matterhorn and Tomorrowland... By contrast the actual setup is so well hidden people would likely walk past it if the crowd wasn't there (many did walk past until the exterior line started to grow). The teapot is so tiny, and completely masked behind the foliage (both fake and real). Ariel's clam shell was a great deal more visible then this area. I was actually a bit shocked that purists, who always champion theme and the need to preserve it's integrity, would rather see the clamshell then walk past the greenery. For anyone interested, some of the water jets from Triton's garden are still in place, and continue to fire.

I don't agree with trying to jam it into Bugsland. I think if they had tried this MANY on the boards would be complaining about the blatant violation of theme and the addition of yet another Disney character to a park currently themed to California.

Here's the waterfall in weird lighting.

The line was really hot with limited shade.

That was a complaint I had as well... I'm not sure if there is really a good solution for this other then adding umbrellas. That whole switchback area, and the walk past the waterfall is in glaring sunlight, and there is no shade on the Parade route either. July would not be a fun time to stand in that line.

I think most people were ok. I just don't do well in the sun. I usually wear a hat or bring a parasol, but I had not been planning to stand in the sun for so long. I got a really bad migraine, but it's all gone now. We went right home after we saw the pixies. I was really wishing I had brought the parasol when I was in that line though...

Re: Pixie Hollow is OPEN!!!

I was wondering with all the tall grass blades if it was shadey from the sun. I really haven't say my words other then of where's Fawn was. About how it looks. From the pictures I have seen I do really like it. It is no way comper to what I though it was going to look like. I though they where just going to add somethings to the place but still have Ariel's turn seat there but I was wrong. I can't wait to see it. BTY I have seen the pictures where you go in at but where do you start in at. Is it the same start place as it was for Ariel or not.

I see a sales opportunity here for Disney. Parasols for the Pixie Hollow crowd!

But DCA is already a thematic trainwreck, so better there - - and in an already oversized theme area, than at Disneyland, at least in that location. We have to protect Disneyland's integrity.

If in Disneyland: Why not the area below the Skyway Chalet, or the Motor Boat Cruise/Fantasia Gardens area or that unused platform Small World Way - - that's where such a fantastical self-contained area belonged.
