    "Building Walt's Dream"

I just found this amazing video on YouTube, it's time lapse photography of Disneyland being built, with commentary from Tony Baxter, Ed Hobleman, and Walter Magnuson.

At my office even the non-disney fans stopped what they were doing and were amazed by the video, of course it is Friday and everyone's ready to go home, but I still think they were impressed.

That's the footage that is on disc 2 of the Treasures: Disneyland: Secrets, stories & Magic DVD. There are time lapse shots of pretty much all of the lands being built... All narrated by Tony and Ed.

The best part is hearing them talk about how they found all this footage that no one knew about and how much there is. According to Tony, hundreds of hours of it and they've only digitized a small part of it so far.

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

Just finished all 5 parts, I love the anecdote about how they did they layout for Jungle Cruise with a stick in the dirt. All 5 parts were amazing though. I hope they get around to digitizing more of the footage, it was all amazing.

How else should laying out a river in the jungle be done--CATIA and GPS/laser-guided robots? Ah, high technology! So many sophisticated solutions in search of a problem.

Seen these on the DVD, but they're still too fun to pass up.

I want to know what streets they're driving down in the opening segment. It may be impossible to determine, unless you know exactly where they end up inside the work site and then backtrack.

I love how the Opera House, which was used as a staff shop and mill, was torn down and rebuilt as what we know today.
