The Christmas tree has appeared on Main Street USA, and the Christmas music loop is playing. It's all so beautiful, I'm sitting near the dedication plaque and I couldn't be happier.![]()
Already!? Wow, that was fast!
I though Christmas didn't officially "start" 'till Thanksgiving...
Is it lit? There must be an official lighting ceremony at some point.
They used to note that in the schedule, "Small World Lighting Moment" for the first lighting of the early evening.
But, since it's not November 21.....maybe no 'official' lighting ceremony till then ?
It's great, though, for all the people that are there now, and won't be able to be there on the 21st or later.

Darn it... I can't stand the Main Street holiday loop.
I missed it by one day!
Cool! I'll have to check it out friday night.

I assume there was no ceremony to light the tree; the lights were already on when I walked in at about sunset. The tree is not doing its special lighting yet; only the regular Christmas lights are on. They seem to be a little darker than years past. The pine needles are very obviously fake upon close inspection, lots of people were touching them and trying to smell them. I see lots of small strobes and LEDs embedded throughout.
Captain Jack Sparrow came by just now to do meet and greets in front of the tree. It's his last day in the park after all!
Lots of Santas in the tree, other toys and horns and gingerbread men too.
I'll be there tomorrow night. I hope the lights are done. There is no POD scheduled for tomorrow, but my son's band will be marching. I'll try to grab a couple shots of the tree.

A castmember mentioned to me that it was fake this year as they had added some new lighting feature that couldn't be done safely with a real tree...we'll see...
How very interesting. Last night when leaving the park (around 9:30 PM) we noticed that there were a bunch of people with hard hats working around the tree. They had flood lights and a giant crane attached to the top of the tree. We figured they were just putting the topper on it. Had no clue they were preparing to move it! Cool beans. Christmas is here, folks!

The tree has 60,000 LEDs and 500 strobes. The Hub has 19,200 lights and hundreds of strobes. The garlands have thousands of lights and a couple hundred strobes.
Well... at least they didn't put it up on Halloween this year! I remember the year they did that... people were PISSED.
