I took some pics of the smoke around my house.
As a California residant all of my life, I am quite used to fires and earthquakes. But never so near my house. Usually the fires are miles away. I can barely see the smoke.
Sometime last night, however, 2 fires have started, onkly fueled by dry bush from our drought and Santa Anna winds. Just east of where I live. I took pictures, moments ago, of what the sky looks like around my home.
Luckily, for me, the winds aren't blowing in my direction. I'm hoping and prying that the winds won't change direction. We had a fire nearly get our cabin last year. It just passed right over ours and onto the next. I feel like how I felt then: Totally freaked out.
The parents left for the night up to the cabin, just in case fires start up there again. That way this time they'll have time to gather up all of our grandmothers paintings and other priceless things.
I'm trying to think of other things, but it's hard when the smoke has blocked outt he sun and it's so hot that I can barely breath. The nose bleeds don't help either. I've already had two so far. Yes, the air id THAT dry and hot here. I'm by the beach, so you'd think the air would be less drier than other places right now. Stupid winds.
