Someone explained that sometimes it's actually good to have cloned attractions. An economy right now, most people wouldn't spend money to go around the world to another Disney park. But, if a closer Disney park had the same attraction they wanted to see, then it's a good thing.

I hope that made sense. But I'm all for cloned attractions to be slightly different (ala TOT).

While I sympathize with the argument toward originals at various parks rather than clones - - I think the reason PhilharMagic comes up so often is that apparently people really like it and they did it right - - and it's easily ported over.

Since there is no guarantee that something new will be good these days, it tends to make sense that the ones that work well get repeated in the manner that was successful.

After all, we would have been much luckier to get a clone of Tokyo's incredible Pooh than the "original" version we got at DL. Just as I have a hunch that DCA would be better off with Mickey's PhilharMagic instead of a Narnia walk-through...

That said, I'm glad we're getting all those DCA originals like Cars and Mermaid - and I trust JL will make certain they are good.

As much as I want a new Toontown attraction PhilharMagic would be too popular to put there since that part of the park closed at like 6-8 pm and that would suck not to be able to go on it the whole time the park is open. Maybe close Playhouse Disney and add a real attraction there;-)

I must admit Toontown is logical and it would give me a reason to walk back there. I think anyone who votes neither may not have had a chance to see it. It is a fantastic little show.

I actually have to disagree with most people that say this is best for Toontown. I think it fits best in Fantasyland, because all of the movies features in it aren't really toony, but more realistic animation.

The Narnia attraction isn't supposed be a walk-through, but rather a 3D show like Muppets.

I thought Mickey's PhilharMagic featured the classic Disney toons, all of whom are firmly and exclusively part of Toontown, as far as Disneyland goes. Fantasyland is (mostly) for the newer, less original characters in Disney's animated features. That place the attraction in Toontown, not Fantasyland. The fact that the characters are depicted through CG animation means that they indeed might not fit as well in Toontown as they otherwise would, but that issue is at least as great with Fantasyland. Remember...the classic toons live in Toontown. How would it make sense to build the attraction a whole land over, surrounded by a different genre?

Mickey's PhilharMagic is basically Donald interacting with the following films:

    • Beauty & The Beast'
    • Sorcerer's Apprentice
    • The Little Mermaid
    • The Lion King
    • Aladdin
    • Peter Pan

Re: which park should get mickey's phillarmagic dca or disneyland?

I think that toontown would be the best fit. it could easily be built on the western edge of the land without having to move any signifcant building. The only thing that would need to be reconfigured is the circle d ranch and the one access road that leads in frontierland and the fantasyland theater. The other location could be the fantasyland theater but i would hate to see the theater gone. My hope is that they do enclose it soon and do productions again.

Another location that could work is inside the animation building in DCA. At the moment there is no location inside big enough for it but that does not mean there is no room.

They could easily remove turtle talk and gut out the whole theater and then remove the back wall to that corner of the building. Seeing that the parade will not have access to that corner road anymore there is room to expand the theater and still leave access to the backstage infrustructure of playhouse Disney and bugs life 3d.

Turtle talk could easily be relocated somewhere near the pier maybe making it part of a dual attraction that could replace mullholand madness. or maybe add a location near the wharf.

with that said I know that people have said it has been ruled out compeltely for HPB in DCA but that is not true. it is still one of the contenders for muppet replacement. The number one choice at the moment is Narnia but that depends on another decision. If Narnia does not happen muppets will still close and be replaced with one of a couple darkride ideas that WDI has in mind or philharmagic after the building was retroffiitted for it

Wow, I totally forgot about that aspect. Whoops! In that case, it really would be best on the boundary of Fantasyland and Toontown, a location currently occupied by the Fantasyland Theater.

That's where I think the best location for it would be too. They can always put the live stage shows over in the Hyperion.
