Its just so their holiday marketing doesn't get smashed by negative media over IASW.
They're not frightened enough over the predicted response, so we'll have to see how much the actual response will frighten them. They must consider these changes very important for some inscrutable reason.

I does not matter how they look. The question is how do they strengthen the theme of the children of the world?

Maybe the theme can be changed slightly? Maybe it might make the attraction more enjoyable? Just give it a chance, that's all I ask.

Yeah, I think Disney is sort of frightened at the response.
You just cited Al Lutz as your source for the internal strife going on in TDA. He says things that have no way of being verified, and his position is to say sensational things. Obviously, Lutz can't continue to say things like Splash Mountain is receiving over-the-seat-restraints, Space Mountain was deemed "unsafe" to open in 2003, a new Peoplemover is coming, etc. etc. He said incorrect things like this for a long time, and got burned for them by informed sources. These days, he just makes more conservative claims, surrounded by facts that are more tangible.

Do you think that somebody from TDA would come on, and prove that he is making things up? It is dangerous to do that if you have a decent job, and Marcie at Mouseinfo did this for 7+ years. When she stopped posting, the skepticism of Lutz died down a lot on Disney boards. While I don't doubt that he often has very interesting facts, it's pretty clear that they are surrounded by entirely debatable claims. Thus, I do not believe that Disney is frightened by the public response. If that was so, they would have pulled the plug on this project months ago.

Re: hows the progress at IASW doing?

It's smart to question anyone on the internet, but Al has been right more than most, so that speaks for itself. However, when he speaks about how people feel or their reasoning I have to admit that becomes more questionable. Still, when the IASW rumors came out, Dis definitely reacted in a way that showed they were not happy with it, and tried to do damage control with the Marty Sklar letter and a few other things. Clearly that would make one guess that there are people who are nervous about this project. Also, unless you believe everything Al says, how do you know that the most controversial part of the changes were not abandoned by Disney due to the public reaction? If the rain forest comes back it makes it seem that either it was never really going to happen or Dis pulled back for fear of the public outcry. We may never know the truth, and Al may be wrong, but what Al said makes sense.

We live in a world where division and war are tearing people apart from each other. The message of It's a Small World is critical at a time like this and Disney wants to hijack it to sell more plush.

That message isn't prevalent to most of the general public.

Re: hows the progress at IASW doing?

Does anyone know if IASW had a soft opening today?

As to Al, while I enjoy his articles I also take the time to verify things with old friends. Nothing personal, just trying to keep things in perspective. The times I have checked Al has been on target. In fact he's been a little "too on target" on several occasions which made some in TDA uncomfortable.

You make it sound like the public made a dire mistake.

It's not them, it's what's fed to them. And what's fed to them is Disney Characters.

This is an upgrade for them.

And I honestly don't care either way.

I've heard many reports of both, so we really will just have to wait & see.

I'm excited for it!
