    World of Color testing 10/20/08

This report has taken a while, but on our most recent trip to DL we stayed at the Paradise Pier Hotel in a view room. The view of DCA is awesome, but we never expected the show they gave us two of our nights there. Video and pictures can't possibly do what we saw justice. Even though it was just a tiny smidgen of what is to come, it was exciting.

Here is a picture of our night view:

During the show, there are multiple spot lights that dance around while the spray changes height and color. For most of the show, there was one spot, but there were as many as three at times. The base of all the action was behind the Orange Stinger from our point of view.

Black and white seems to show the contrast better.

It was quite the night. Simply Mad and I hunkered down by the window, she's taking stills while I'm filming video. You'd think we were sneaking into Area51 or something.

More than once we'd comment to each other about how surreal (and dorky!) it all was.

I stayed up late playing with camera settings, then got up early to take sunrise pictures like the one in my sig.

That's one huge mist screen. Looks promising.

    Thanks for posting!
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Wow, that really got me pumped up for this. I have a feeling this is going to be just as good as, if not better than Fantasmic!

It definitely has potential, if they can create a story or theme that's as compeling as F! I think it could be as good. I'm very excited and nervous about this show. I think it's one of the most important parts of this project, even though it may not get the attention of TLM or RSR. If the show is successful it will have a major impact on everything from the flow of guests around the resort to the hours that DCA will stay open to possibly allowing MSEP to return. I think it's going to be pretty impressive no matter what, but if it's good I think it will really be a big impact on DCA in dramatic ways that few single additions could.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

Trust me - the videos and pictures don't do it justice. When Simply Mad and I were watching the sheer scale of the water wall and the plethora of colors projected onto it, the whole scene before us was just breathtaking.

Can't wait to see the whole show now!

While I was on the youtube site there was another video for Disney's Wonderful world of color, AfterDark. Well, what was neat about this is that Walt is talking to the camera as if he is talking to you. In one part he is talking and a woman comes up to him and asks for his autograph, he gives it to her and doesn't stop a beat with the filming. Then more people notice him and asks for his autograph and without getting annoyed or anything he just gives it to them and still film the rest of the segment. Pretty cool composer and gave me a good feeling. He never told the people to wait or anything. He put them first. A great show of character.

According to the Blue Sky Cellar "Fire and Water Become Living Characters" so they should give you an idea.
