Trip Report - 11/16/08 (Evening)

We planned on going all day, but with the fires and such, opted against it. I was kind of bummed out about it and my friends picked up on it and were nice enough to surprise me with a short night visit! I was hoping to catch Remember before it goes dark, but they cancelled it due to high winds.

Anyway, here are some photos I took. I don't have the patience to deal with a tripod most of the time and I hate using a flash, so sorry if they seem a little grainy - I really like to boost the ISO.

We tried to swing by IASW to see of the new lights were in action. They weren't.

Wow, great photos! Taking good pictures in darkness is not easy, but yours look awesome.

What camera do you use? What f-stop and shutter speed were you using for the pirates and Fantasmic photos? Oh, and what was the ISO for those?

I've been trying to take shots in Indy and other dark rides for the past several weeks, but it gets difficult using 1/15 shutter speeds on Indy, haha.

When we when on sat. it was lite there was no wait in any of the rides I when on. Alot of the shows where cand. Only High School,The firemen band I call them the band in front of the castle was the only stuff going.

It wasn't very crowded last night. We staked a spot right in front of the castle for the fireworks 20 minutes prior to the would-be start, the second showing of Fantasmic wasn't too crowded (they put up the ropes and took them down before the show started) and every ride we went on was a walk-on.

Great pictures! I love the last picture that you posted of Fantasmic with Mickey. The colors look great! Yesterday was a very calm day and it was really enjoyable, minus the air quality.

Thanks! I use an Olympus E-500 (soon to be Nikon D90, hopefully!) and for Fantasmic, I mainly used 1/60th at f/4.5 (most my zoom lens can handle) and ISO 1600. For the others, I pretty much tweak here and there.

Ah, I've got an E-520, but I can't seem to get that much exposure for dark shots, and I always use f/3.5 at 1/15 to 1/30 shutter speed.

Either way, those shots are great!

Oh my Good sweet lord I can't wait to roam the streets of Disneyland at night. My favorite time of the day for a theme park.

It was soooo nice last night, as soon as the 10:30 Fantasmic was done, the park cleared out instantly. Just a few stragglers with cameras

Yesterday was great! Nearly every ride was a walk-on all day. I suppose the perfect storm of being in between 2 holidays, warm weather and fire concern kept people away from the park.

Great pics. To me, DLR takes on a whole different feeling at night and it's a real treat to experience it. Most of the time though we're (well, my son & wife anyway) too tired to stay late.

For the fireworks, we were dead center right on the curb closest to the castle and for Fantasmic we were pretty much in the center standing up behind the seated area.
