and, honestly, how many cast members or managers do you really think can recognize Al on sight?

My guess is that he finds out about what he ends up posting way ahead of time. But I think he waits until it gets more set in stone and probably when the info gets worded around to more and more execs, CM's etc. It's to cover his sources butts I say. But he is right most of the time and I think that when he writes negatively about a rumor, sometimes it gets changed because of internet boards so he may appear wrong in that sense.

It certainly seems like you're right. It even seems like at times his sources tell him things that they say not to reveal yet. He often hints at things well before he reports then more offcially. The third gate is a perfect example. He hints at it in virtually every article but has yet to reveal much. It seems like he's heard a lot more.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.
-Walt Disney
I smell skepticism, whether some admit to have it or not.
Look guys, Al doesn't report anything to us unless he's had several confirmations and feels good about it. He knows people, and obviously he's not going to let slip who they are; if he does, those people will more than likely loose their jobs, and not only will Al loose credibility towards them and other insiders, but he will loose at least one insider as well.
When Al says there are plans for something and it doesn't happen, it's not Al's fault; it's because Disney decides to act differently.
Nothing is set in stone with Disney, even if Disney comes out and says it's what they're going to do. Everything is "subject to change without notice."
Just to name a few examples, remember Western River Expedition? This was going to be a huge attraction for WDW; in the park, a display had even been set up, with an AA owl, talking about how AAs work and that he would be your tour guide in Western River Expedition in the future. But you know what? It never got built. And what about our interactive WALL-E that was supposed to debut in DCA this past summer? We saw him on tv, at talkshows and different things, and the AP newsletter stated that he would be coming, and what do you know? He never shows up. Plans get scrapped at the last minute by Disney.
So please, cut the "credibility" on Al nonsense. He's not God, but I think he deserves a lot more respect than that, for being able to give us the information he has, and actually caring enough to do so. A lot of people, including Al, take a heck of a lot of risks for us to read the articles that Al writes.
Take me to Neverland...
Well said pineapplewhipaddict! My sentiments exactly. When Al is wrong, it's almost always because of a change in plans. He often reports things pretty far in advance. But he has been right a HUGE number of times.
Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter
