Google + LIFE = AWESOME. (Merged)

Well, I guess Google and LIFE Magazine struck up some kind of archive partnership and have millions (yes, millions) of photos now on their image search engine.

But what does this have to do with me? Well, er, Disneyland? Well, I'm glad you asked. A quick search brings up a couple of awesome, possibly never published, rarely seen photos! Take a gander.

    DISNEYLAND.

I mean, who knew such a fly Minnie outfit existed?

Cool, thanks for posting. I don't remember that Minnie but she reminds me of my childhood.
The Mickey audience is not made up of people; it has no racial, national, political, religious or social differences or affiliations; the Mickey audience is made up of parts of people, of that deathless, precious, ageless, absolutely primitive remnant of something in every world-wracked human being which makes us play with children’s toys and laugh without self-consciousness at silly things, and sing in bathtubs, and dream and believe that our babies are uniquely beautiful. You know…the Mickey in us.

I just love to look at older photos of the park and see what everything looked like, how people looked, etc. So of course, when I saw the archive thing, my first search was DISNEYLAND!

Yeah, I found three from the top of the Matterhorn that I'd never seen before. All three are basically the same shot, but the one I posted made me feel like I was in another universe.

I didn't even realize what the whoops meant until I looked closer. Funny.

This is actually a Minnie costume from the early days of EPCOT. I remember these costumes quite well, as the characters appeared in them for quite some time. In fact, the Odyssey restaurant had a character show and meet and greet to each table where the characters wore these outfits. What I find crazier is that the Odyssey was a quick service location, having a character meal!

    Crazy indeed.

    Everybody's got a laughin' place-
trouble is most folks won't take the time to go look for it.

Searching through their photos for Disneyland backstage returns no hits. Thus the service is useless.

Not quite useless, the shots from the Matterhorn show some backstage areas. Not to mention they're invaluable for determining layout.
