Think Tony Liked It?

Tony Baxter was at Disneyland yesterday to ride the updated It's a Small World Holiday, as seen in these photos by MintCrocodile:

Nice to see he was waiting in line like Walt once did.

Think he liked it?

Lot's more interesting stuff here:

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

He's been involved with the changes since the beginning so I'm sure he liked it. It's not like he didn't know what was coming.

I never said he didn't.

I don't know if I'd be able to hold myself back and shout out his name to give him a high five.

I'd probably freak out like a 13-year-old seeing the Jonas Brother's live.

Maybe he jumped out of the boat and rearranged set pieces like an 80s teenager

80's teenager? I think you have your facts mistaken, those were MiceChatters.

I would have shouted "WHY TONY?! WHYYYYYYY?!" and then pretended that nothing happened.

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

I am curious if Tony went to "see the changes in person" or if he went to see the reactions from the Guests. Since it is the holiday overlay, and only a few changes can be seen, some may not even notice it (no "Up with America" or Disney Characters yet). I think the real "test" will be after the characters and the new scene are unveiled. From what Data described, Tony was fairly reserved and not overly excited with this project. Using that as a base against his standard behavior I would say he was either having an off day, being curiously reserved, sick, or isn't supportive of the changes. Data can elaborate.

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

I also noticed the sun glasses and don't believe he took them off during the ride. I think he was trying to keep a low profile and gauge guest reactions.

Unfortunately, no, I can't elaborate much, but I can tell you that I've heard him mention the IASW changes twice, and he didn't really said anything good or bad about them, though he was curious to hear how the guests reacted. I get the impression that he wasn't terribly involved in the project, despite Marty Sklar mentioning that he was involved in the original idea, but I could be entirely wrong about that.

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

I have no idea if he is happy or not, and don't care to speculate. There's too much of that going on around here already...

I'm surprised that there isn't a "What would Walt think" thread on IASW. Maybe there is???

We saw him in the lobby of the DL Hotel recently, and we were the only ones that recognized him.

There must have been a few dozen folks standing within ten feet of him and nobody even looked at him twice. Of course, not everyone is tuned into the personalities of Disney or the Park.

Since he was alone and apparently not engaged in any business activity, we went up to him and thanked him for all of his hard work with the Park. He was very cordial and nice to talk with.

We didn't bother him with requests for photo's or autographs (not our style), so after a few minutes, we thanked him for chatting with us and wished him a nice day.

Seemed like a nice, personable kind of guy.

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

Don't feel ignorant!

I would bet cash that 99.9% of all folks that enjoy the Park don't have a clue as to who he is, and could care less.

Re: Think Tony Liked It?

Oh, BTW, he is a Sr. VP of Disney Imagineering...

Of course, that is just the short story. I'm sure others will chime in and give you the 10 page resume version.
