Question Can you tell me about the old DL Town Square Café?

I am wondering about the old Disneyland's Main street Town Square Café, have you ever been there when it was open? What was it like? Do you have any pictures of it?

    Thanks so much!

Well, I learn something new all the time on here. This is one I hadn't heard of before.

I found a menu from 1987: Stuff from the Park: Souvenir Friday- Town Square Cafe Menu

Though everything I find seems to point to it having been at Walt Disney World... opening in 1971 and then being rethemed to Tony's Town Square Cafe in 1987.

Not sure this one was ever at Disneyland. Anyone else have any more information?

Our revels now are ended. Great find on the menu! My understanding is that it did exist on Main Street at Disneyland! I sure would love to eat there! Sit down dining in DL is in short supply!

The Town Square Cafe was located in what now is the Disney Showcase Annex aka "Celebration"... this location has had many different incarnations. The area to the right of the shop before the backstage area was originally supposed to the entrance to different expansions of Main Street... International Street, Liberty Street... but when the ideas where scrapped it was turned into the outside seating areas for the different restaurants.

CM's refer to this area as 'Egg House'.

I had wondered about the history of the Egg House! I hadn't been able to find much on this specific area ever. Most of the time when looking at the history of Main Street, all you get is the Wizard of Bras or some such.

Thanks for the further info Alpoe001 and Goof@Heart.

When it was the American Egg House (70s-early 80s), they served breakfast and omelettes to order - - the restaurant was in that small shop, but the seating was in that adjacent outdoor area that has always been just a false front. It was a nice breakfast alternative in a scenic locale.

Here's a peek of it when it was the Hills Bros Coffee House in the 1960s:

It would be nice to bring this back as a sit down place to eat. It is in such a prime people watching spot. Not to mention, being at the front of the park, it is perfect for a place to grab breakfast.

I recall enjoying meals there when it was the Egg House and the second go around of Town Square.

    Good times!
