    New Small World boats smaller?

The new boats look smaller -- less wide. Looks like fewer people can fit in there. The old boats seemed more like seating was on a "sofa" but now it looks more like a "love seat". Is this just my imagination? Are the boats smaller? Is the whole flume smaller as well?

Re: New Small World boats smaller?

Personally they look smaller, but I miss the old ones with different colors... from what I have seen in pictures they are definitely brighter and more vivid in color but I miss having the 4 colors... no offense but red and blue can get kinda bland at times!

Does anyone know if the boats are smaller because of the weight issue? [as in smaller to keep less people in the boats but if thats a case why are we hearing of them getting stuck?]

They were probably made smaller to make for a lighter load, preventing so many boat traffic jams.

Wasn't that one of the main reasons it closed??

People aren't getting any smaller, so the boats have to! Makes sense to me..

They might be a bit smaller, but then they seem to have higher backrests...and the room in each row seems to be greater depth-wise. I rode them yesterday and they were fine.

The boats are probably the same size but I do know the flume is bigger, so it gives that effect.

How do you know the flume is bigger? It didn't look bigger.

The boats are definitely smaller, my family used to be able to fit comfortably across a row, now we're all squished together.

Smaller for sure. Have a different feel to them inside and floating-wise. Won't take long to get used to them I'm sure.

That was pretty much the whole point of the refurbishment, to make the flume deeper & wider so the boats wouldn't stop so much.

The boats are the exact same dimensions as before. They look slightly smaller because the seats don't extend to the edge (1" gap that has no effect when sitting) and have what appears to be a slightly higher back because it's effectively where the grab bar was before. What has changed is the legroom between seats, they all got another inch or so except for the front row which now has the least legroom.

    Oy, the paranoia...
