Other 50th surprises beyond Haunted Mansion

First of all, congratulations to everyone at Disney for somehow managing to keep whatever enhancements are being made to the Haunted Mansion a surprise for so long. (And thank you to everyone outside of Disney but in the loop, whether the mouse intends them to be or not, for not spilling the beans.)

But now that Disney has tipped its hand in their Annual Report – and those that know what is going on have indicated this isn’t some PR fluff but real enhancements in the Mansion that the average guest might notice – I look at the aggressive upcoming refurbishment list and gotta wonder/ask just what the heck else the mouse has up its sleeve. . .

Is something similar going on at iasw? Could there be more to the extensive refurb/rebuild of the Tiki Room? And given whatever they’re doing to the Mansion they’re doing in just 3 weeks, the Jungle Cruise’s 2-month upcoming downtime now seems suspicious as well as the one for Splash that is of similar length.

Closing Casey and Storybook for an entire month and scheduling their opening to coincide with day Disneyland’s 50th celebration begins? Hmmm . . . . And look at what is happening to the railroad. It’s refurb coincides with Splash’s. Hmmm . . . something with the riverboat finale you don’t want us to see? Plus (and this I admit is a real, real, REAL stretch) rebuilding the RR’s T-land station that has been basically the same for decades? Are you guys doing something to the Dinosaur diorama between now and May 5th therefore expecting to draw large crowds that just want to see that portion of the ride?

Please note all of the above is rampant, flagrant, self-indulgent speculation of the worst possible type. But given that the Mansion seems to be taking most of us that troll these boards by big surprise, ya gotta wonder . . .and hope that perhaps at least 5% might be true.

I hope you're right. I would love to see something of this magnitude happen all over the park. I love reading about Disneyland on the internet, but I would love to be totally taken off guard. After all, that would be "Disney Magic" if they manage to fool the diehards.

My only concern is that they may try to tie the Haunted Mansion back to that dog of a movie they released in 2003. Hopefully they have enough sense not to do this, but there were some rumors at the time that this was the plan. I had assumed those plans (if they ever existed) died with the movie, but I now I am just a bit worried again. I know the odds are against them doing something that stupid, but still..

I remember one of the rumors was that Jennifer Tilly was going to provide her likeness and shrill, obnoxious voice to the ride by replacing the current Leota. I laughed it off and assume it'll never happen but with these new rumors of a leota enhancement...I just hope that isn't part of it!

And wouldn't it be wonderful if they replaced the figure of the graveyard caretaker with a quivering, shivering animatronic of Eddie Murphy?

Man, I don't see how they can RESIST doing this makeover. It's inspired!

If I remember correctly that rumor came from Jennifer herself. I can visualize the line outside City Hall. Her voice makes my ears bleed.

The FP for HM will be relocated to city hall and used as the waiting system to not cause a long line due to that complaint... LOL......

(and after you get your FP you get a complementry healing pill that fixes your bleeding ears...)

I can actually agree with the EMperor's New Groove, because it actually goes with the original theme of the CAnal Boats ride being representative of different parts of the world and ENG definitely represents South America.
