Disneyland's Best Secret?

We just finished a weeks vacation at Disneyland. This may be suprising but we've never been on the canoe ride. Infact I thought it was on its' way out. Let me say that was one fun ride. The best thing about it is it's simplicity. from what we were told by our guide is that it is not even on a track. I know it is not as high tech as the rest of the park, but I think that is what gives it such appeal. My advise next time you go visit, be sure to go on it.

Agreed!

The canoes are a lot of fun. You'll get to know a lot about the other people pretty quickly. There's usually:

  • The lazy person
  • The uncoordinated person
  • The trying-as-hard-as-they-can-but-can't-seem-to-do-it person
  • The born-to-paddle person
  • The giggly person
  • The I-really-would-rather-be-on-Small-World person
  • The I-have-to-actually-help? person
  • The overexcited person
  • The wet person (usually behind the overexcited person)

Canoes, I salute you!

don't forget the kid who always knocks his oar into yours because he has no sense of rhythm and keeps splashing you on purpose but acts like it was an accident.

i love the canoes! also home to hot CMs with nice arms.

One of my favorite moments in the park is when my high school rowing team went on the canoes. we rocked it!

It's been a lond time for me but they are kind of fun and certainly different. I wish they'd bring back the keel boats too. It's nice to have a variety of crafts on ROA.

Re: Disneyland's Best Secret?

I haven't gone on the canoes since I was a kid (my sister was the splasher in front of me). Since I tend to go to Disneyland on busy days, I always feel like I should be getting a Fastpass or waiting for an E ticket ride instead of slowing down and rowing a canoe. Just another reason I'm going to try to make my next trip happen on a Monday.

Re: Disneyland's Best Secret?

My daughter was padling the wrong way and getting the poor guy infront of her drenched. He seemed it was completely funny and laughed the whole ride.

Actually I think the last time I went on the canoes it was really busy, pre-fastpass and when they used to let more people in, and everything was like at least an hour wait, and most were around 2 hours, so we went on the canoes because they were the only ride without a really long line. I guess it's been around 20 years since I've been on them, wow, though if WDW has them, I think I did those a little more recently, but not much.

Re: Disneyland's Best Secret?

I've ALWAYS wanted to go on the canoes, but never got to! Because I had the cheapest AP and got it in September and used it until November, they were always closed the days I went. *sniff* Someday, I WILL ride them!
