    Disneyland Photoshop Competiton?

I know some of you most likely have done this before, perhaps even on here (I couldn't find anything by searching though) and thought we could give it a try.

    The Concept:
One member posts a picture of something in the Disneyland Resort (Now this member is the winner of the previous round.) The picture can really be anything but has to be featured in the final product in some form or fashion.

After the picture is posted there is a given time period (5 days or 7 days or such) when you are able to submit your photoshopped image.

After the period of time, submissions are closed and all of the submissions are then voted by the forum members over the course of another 2 or 3 days. The winner then picks a picture and the whole thing repeats itself.

This is only a proposal of such a competition. Personally I think it would be fun, and I think there are plenty of creative minded people on here to participate. If enough of you express interest then I will start the first thread perhaps sometimes tomorrow.

So what I need from you guys and gals are:

If you would like to participate or be interested in such a competition.
How long you would like to see the submission period be.
How long you would like to see the voting period be.
    Any other ideas or rules.

I'd definitely be interested in participating, though I can't make any promises, of course. One week seems like a good length of time for the submission process, and then the three-day limit for voting seems appropriate.

One thing that'd be important, methinks, would be to emphasize that the winner doesn't necessarily have to post the next photo. If someone else has a better one, that should be okay, too, IMO.

Thanks for posting the idea! We've done Disneyland Photoshop stuff before, and there've been Photoshop contests on the web, but it'd be nice to see that all converge into actual Disneyland Photoshop contests here.

Nice, I say do it right after Christmas. That gives people time to get new toys and what not also lets use take pictures at the park during the holiday. It would be cool of we had a contest every month or so...

    I'm in!

I wonder if the powers that be that run this site might be willing to throw in a gold membership once or twice a year. For example take all the top 3 submissions from each week during a 6 month period and have them compete on a new photo with specific criteria for a grand photoshop wizard title earning them a gold membership. Of course the wining criteria might need to be adjusted so that anyone can win regardless of photoshop skill.
If you liked the above posting then my name is Joel. If you didnt my name is Julie and I work on the monorail.

So just "something" in the original photo (no specifics?) and it can be used in any possible context?

So a posted picture of the Matterhorn can have a tree cropped out and placed in the middle of the ocean?

    I'm not following your concept.

Very good question, something I should have made a little clearer. It is up to you to an extent. Having just a tree wouldn't work though. The final product should feature a greater part of the original image. For example:

A picture of the Matterhorn is posted.

    - You can just alter the colors of the matterhorn so it looks like a cake
    - You can take the whole matterhorn and put it on the ocean.
    - You can add other photos to make a collage of the history of the matterhorn.
    - You can cut and crop, play with the contrast and make it really artistic
    - You can make it look like Dr. Evil is looking at it on a computer monitor.
    - You can make it a silhouette and turn it into a logo.
    - You can make it look like a cut-away showing half outside the mountain/half inside.

Essentially the final product should feature a large part the original photo. I hope this helps clear things up a bit.

As for winning criteria I think it comes down to what everyone likes more, based on competitions on other sites winners haven't always been the best looking but perhaps the most creative. Whether it is something humorous, or something really out of the box. However after a few competitions if this isn't the case (although I think it will be) we certainly will be able to change the criteria.

One thing that'd be important, methinks, would be to emphasize that the winner doesn't necessarily have to post the next photo. If someone else has a better one, that should be okay, too, IMO.
I was actually thinking that perhaps instead of the winner posting the next picture, the person with the least amount of votes could. But I agree whoever it is, shouldn't have to post the next image, but can if they would like. My only concern would be that if they don't want to, who chooses the next image without 25 people posting different pictures they would like to tackle.

Then the winner can judge between which of the suggestions is the best!
