DVC: The Villas at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

I was able to attend a walkthrough of the model of the DVC Villas coming to Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa this evening. They might already be showing these to the public but I thought Id post some pics so you can see what the 50 new Villas will look like.

They seem to be your pretty typical DCA unit but with a splash of that Arts and Crafts feel. It was warm and inviting. The accents were great. Note the molding on the walls and the soft colored paint. Gone is the woodsy wallpaper that you find in the current hotel. There's sturdier looking chairs, bed frames, etc.

Take a look and share your thoughts... I'm sure any DVC CM around the resort would love to sign you up to go take a look at the model yourself. You might even get a Disney Gift Card out of it as well.

Note - I didn't know I was gonna be visiting the DVC model so all I had was my iPhone camera to take pictures. They're not the best quality.

Thanks for the pictures. The space seems small compared to some of the DVC at WDW.

I think it has lots of potential. The decor is VERY popular/trendy. They seem to have done a nice job...I look forward to seing it in person. Thanks for the pics!!!

I personally sort of think its ridiculous to have a DVC at the DLR because its not yet the kind of place you would visit for a whole week or more. Maybe some people do. Or maybe DVC members can stay there, go to the parks and other destinations nearby perhaps.
Anyways as a budding designer I'd say those interiors are nice but it would have been great had they kept with the craftsman style of the hotel itself. I mean DVC or not, its supposed to feel like your in a lodge style accomodation.

^^ I would have to disagree. I think the designers stuck with the craftsman style and it is reflected in the bathroom and kitchen. The coffee table has the same style as well. I feel they took in to account that these rooms will see a lot of guests and used materials and designs that would function properly for a long time.

I really enjoyed the Beach Club Villas in WDW when I went in October. Looking at the GC villas, I had to giggle as the layouts are practically the same. Smart design tactic though can be a little stale over time.

Upon closer inspection of the photos, your right they do seem to have some trademark craftsman touches. Perhaps you are right about them using items that can withstand the test of time. I'm gonna have to see these in person sometime to really get the overall feel.

I really like the natural wood feel of the room. it makes the overall feeling warm and cozy. Make sure to post pics and opinions when you get your first look!

Is it silly that I am excited by the fact that you will be able to fit more people in one room? I always hate breaking up our party as we have more fun in one room than in two.

As a huge fan of the Craftsman style I'd have like to seen it more heavily emphasized in the sleeping areas. But thanks mucho for posting.

There are currently rooms at the Grand that sleep 5! You can get two queens and a day bed or a queen with bunkbeds that has a pull-out trundle.

I wouldnt expect the DVC units to be available to non-DVC guests on a regular basis. Theres a ton of DVC members that visit and stay at the resort very regularly basis that I am sure will eat up the Villas.
