Question Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular back???

I heard Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular will be back this weekend (thank god Im going) but how long do you think the show will be back? Do you think it will be back for another year or just over Christmas? I heard it was going to be replaced but I guess not yet.

I hope to the end of January! I missed it last year and would love to see it again.

I saw Aladdin the last weekend before the Hyperion started refurbishment in September. While we were waiting in line we asked a CM about the show. He said that the show's contract had been renewed for another year (meaning 2009). We didn't go into detail on the subject but it sounded like they had a contract with an outside company which was renewed on a year by year basis.

I hope this show doesn't leave DCA. It is always one of the highlights of my trips there, and one of the only reasons my family and I ever bother to go to DCA.

I enjoy though show and all, but I think it's time for something fresh.

I would love to see a Hercules Broadway show or Bedknob and Broomsticks.

There's ALOT I would like to see.

They dont have a 'contract' with an outside company.
The performers, however, are members of AGVA, which is one artist's union in the industry. That's probably the most contract the show itself has. Disney calls all the shots with those shows, and contract with AGVA or not, could potentially pull the plug when they want to.

    Aladdin re-opens Friday the 12th.

The contract the CM spoke of is with the AGVA union, but disney is only required to give the actors two weeks notice of an AGVA show being closed. So the length of the contract is not that important. But Aladdin will run thru 2010. after that it is up in the air as far as what will happen at the Hyperion, new show, maybe or Aladdin may continue nothing has been confirmed. One possible show is Toy Story, but I really hope not, its rumored to be a tie in with the release of Toy Story 3D, but I think something like Enchanted would be a better show.

Im not a current CM, but an ex CM and an ex AGVA member.
Disney pretty much did what it wanted, and AGVA had a very loose say in it...

Enchanted would be cool to see. I'm glad Aladdin will run for a little while longer, it's my favorite part of DCA. I will definately be filming it on my next trip, witout a light of course.
