Do you all know, off the top of your heads, what the significance of this time period is: 1984-2005?
Why, none other than Michael Eisner’s great adventure! While good and bad came to Disney through his leadership, we can all agree on one thing, it is nice to have the cannons back on Main Street. I have not been following him too closely following his departure, mainly because I was happy to see him leave. In his later years he lost sight of what it had taken to build Disney to what it is, and focused more on trashy, mass-produced, politically correct merchandise and theme-ing. After reading a couple of very well-written letters from S. Gold of Shamrock Investments, I decided it was a good time to join Save Disney. SD had one goal, and that was to get this kook out of office.
What’s done is done, and things are getting better. The new CEO along with the other decision makers seem to be receptive to the masses in realizing the focus needs to be in the details and the collectibles. Disneyana conventions are pretty much non-existent at the moment, and that needs to change.
There is my two cents on that. NOW FOR THE BIG NEWS!
According to sources in Mt. Kisco, NY (Eisner’s home town) ME has been seen on Byram Lake riding around in none other than an old Disneyland Keel boat! It has apparently been refurbished to feature a Mercury 250 outboard motor and a flag on the back of an arm giving Roy Disney a head lock and noogie. He has also rigged up the onboard audio system to continuously loop the original Submarine Voyage ride spiel. He has been seen wearing a straw hat, no doubt homage to the days of old and Tom Sawyer. It is yet to be confirmed whether he chews on a piece of dried grass or not.
This may seem unbelievable to some, but to others, it probably makes perfect sense. It was his dream to live this way, he just got lost with all the political upkeep required of a company like Disney, and forgot about his old cut-off jean shorts and straw hat. But I am proud to say, he has found his hat and is wearing it like the pioneer he is. My sources are writers for a well-known news outlet in upstate NY and can confirm everything down to the brim diameter on that classic hat.
If you are ever in the area, get up to the Byram Lake Reservoir and find a good hiding spot. What you will see just might disregard all the horrible things he did to Disney, and help you with forgiving and forgetting
