    Angry StarTrader and Starcade

    Tomorrowland....

I was at the park yesterday and when I went to the restrooms by Space Mountain, I was SHOCKED!!! I noticed how horrible the architecture was and how boring the walkway was that leads from the spinning globe thing to the restrooms!!! It looked like a subway station. Now I go on Space Mountain a lot, but I am always talking to someone when we exit the ride and never noticed how horrible-looking and boring it was!!! What are some ways to spruce this up a little bit!!

By the way- I have had numerous expansion plans for making Tomorrowland better, and seeing this makes it the first thing they should do to the park!!!

It's always been like that. The only difference between about 25 years ago and now is that there used to be an outdoor theatre where HISTA is now.

I guess it has always been like that but because whenever I go on Space Mountain, I go on with friends and have never noticed how boring it is!!!!!!!! Well that is my rant. WHEW!!!!!

Its in theme then! You just arrived at a space terminal and are exiting out back into the real world!

Yeah, it would be nice to get some theme done, but it is what it is.

    Cool Re: StarTrader and Starcade

I kind of like that look. I mean what else are you going to do? It's only 3 walls and a couple of planters.

Can't say I've seen someone get so worked up over one small pathway in Disneyland before. It's an exit queue with an arcade to its left. How 'exciting' do you want it to be??

Doesn't bother me any more than Tomorrowland as a whole, really. It's just a symptom of a bigger problem. Tomorrowland needs to find its own visual and thematic identity in a way that really does say, "Welcome to a fantastic, vaguely-possible world of the future where technology enhances our life but occasionally brings danger (AKA thrills) into the mix!"

When it was open to the exciting live performances on the Space Stage, it was quite a bit nicer and far less cave like. Now they have HISTA and the Space Mountain picture area making it seem confined.
it's a sale of candy and a sale of plush, it's a sale of toys and disney stuff
there's so much that we sell, that it's time we tell, it's a plush plush sale!

I do wish they'd do something with that arcade.

I never really noticed. Only time I am in that area is when I exit SM...and usually my heart's beating fast from the ride and I'm laughing at the pictures from the ride.

    Re: StarTrader and Starcade

It would be nice if they put some new games in the Starcade that people might actually want to play. Maybe I'm crazy, but that might do a little something in drawing in some new traffic.

Plopping down a giant UFO floor-screen game looked like it might succeed in attracting people in from the street, but then it carried with it an 8 token/game price. Way to cut off your nose to spite your face there! Now that game is pushed back to the wall and nothing is in that spot facing the doorway. Brilliant.

Tomorrowland is an ugly place. I guess that means they got the future right.

Just replace Star Tours with a Best Buy, Carousel of Progress with a Home Depot, Tomorrowland Terrace with Chili's, throw in some gridlock on Autopia, and then it'll look like the rest of god-forsaken Orange County - just as the Imagineers predicted!
