When will it be busy at Disneyland in 2009?

Sorry to Jump the gun, but I did not see it in a sticky like: When will it be busy at Disneyland in 2008?

So, when will it be busy in 2009? I am planning a trip in May of 09, but want to make sure that I do not blow it.

Any help is appreciated!

Not sure how popular Disneyland is on mothers day weekend but it seems every holiday is popular.

On Mother's Day it will probably be CROWDED. I think Saturday May 9 will be less crowded. Saturdays are usually busy days. Since Sunday is a holiday it might be worst then Saturday.

My psychic powers tell me that February 18th, March 24th, and September 3rd will be plenty crowded in 2009. Beyond that, my vision is hazy at best.

I've actually been working on a new thread for 2009, just trying to shore up some of the bigger convention dates.

Look for it probably the last week of 2008 since I'll be on vacation for 2 weeks.

How long of a trip?
Basics, again, for May:
1. Weekends are busy.
2. Weekdays are not.
3. Memorial Day weekend, a three-day weekend should be quite busy. Sunday that day is busiest. Then Saturday, then Monday, with Friday as a busier than usual Friday.
4. Friday mornings are like weekdays, but steadily get busier and busier, leading to a crescendo at around Fantasmic and Fireworks.
5. The AP blockout calendar is one reasonable judge of how busy it should be: more blocked-out APs, the busier it should be.
6. The DL calendar of open and close times is a second reasonable judge of how busy it should be: longer hours means more guests are expected to be in the park.
7. Depending on when the "two-fer" ("buy one day at DL, visit DCA for free on some other day") promo ends, expect weekends to be busier on days closest to the expiration date of those tickets

Makes sense to me!

As far as Mother's Day goes, we've enjoyed the Resort for the M-D weekend for the past few years. We stay at the DL Hotel and enjoy their M-D Buffet in the Grand Ballroom (like we just did for T-Day).

After our Brunch, we hit the Park. Sure it's busy, but not out of control.

As long as Momma wants to be there, what the heck, give it to her!

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking May 6th through 13th. Mouseplanet is reportinga Pirates refurb in February. Is that tru and if so how long. Pirates is a deal breaker. My son wants to be a pirate when he grows up. If it is down I will postpone my trip to next December.

I was thinking the weekends would be good for Universal, and hit Disneyland on the weekdays. (Depending upon enetertainment)

Weekend traffic is good for Universal. That in itself is a major headache removed. It'll still be crowded, and it won't be as good of fun as DL.

As for Pirates, you can tell your son that they all got arrested for breaking laws. That's what pirates do, and that you'd rather he grew up to be a nice doctor or lawyer who didn't break the law.
