Go early (I mean real early, like an hour before opening) and experience what you want, then everything afterward is icing.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

We went this past Sunday (May 17th) and were hoping for lighter crowds per this thread but it was pretty crowded. 75 min for SM, 60 min for TT and most other big rides were 45 minutes +. Only got on about 10 rides and went to DCA twice and ended up on no rides. It was a disorganized day for us and we ran around like chickens with our heads cut off.

For crowded days having a game plan really helps so you don't end up like us!

In peak season in July, what approx. percentage of the guests leave the park after the fireworks and Fantasmic?

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

My trip to DL had been scheduled for May 6 (two weeks ago), but got pushed off till this week. DL is open an hour later this week, which I didn't think much of, but I now heard that the park's 8PM closing is EARLIER than normal due to Grad night events.

So should I expect this week to be very busy? Between 5/20 (Wed) and 5/21 (Thu), should one be better than the other?

Thanks

I think all of them leave after the fireworks and Fantasmic!, eventually.

Oh, you mean immediately afterward? Well, assuming only one F! show, 60%, maybe more. Last thing you want to do is be apart of those mob scenes:
1. Walking down Main Street USA;
2. Waiting for tram;
3. Waiting to get out of M&F.

Waste an hour of your night? Might as well stay in DL.

I don't foresee much difference. Are BOTH nights Grad Nights?

I inferred Grad Nights from Andy's column on Miceage. He said that the park was closing earlier due to Grad Night. Since next week weeknight closing times are 11PM, I then assumed that this week would have been closing at 11PM, if it were not for Grad Nights. I could be way off.

What do you think the crowds will be like next week? Thurs. May 28 and Fri. May 29? I asked before, but didn't get a reply. That is not Grand night, right? I am hoping since it is after the 3 day weekend, it will be less hectic.

I too think you absolutely need a game plan before walking into Disneyland.

well, the gumball rally is that weekend. How many people does that pull in?

or we can go with. I' will be there so it most likely will be crowded. I have the worst luck picking non busy days...maybe because they are few and far between now.

Do gumball rally peeps wear anything that sets them apart. How will I know them if I see them?

I've heard a whopping 200 people have signed up! So, out of 30,000+, I don't think this will be a major issue.

Anywho, off-season midweek. No brainer. Fridays, as always, start getting busy at 3PM or so.

Yea, were not driving, and we intend to be riding the rides while everyone watches the shows and leaves. I know the areas to avoid, and Im sure you could extend that list to the narrow paths of Adventureland right after F! as the crowds move out.

But of course!
Not sure how the new fireworks show will play out, but if it's anything like Remember, simply stay in T-land.
