Yeah, I was wondering how the economy might affect summer crowds. The madness I remember was from around 4 or 5 years ago, right around the 50th Anniversary, so business was boomin'. (We usually get the Southern California APs, so most of the summer is blocked out and we only attend in fall/winter/spring.)
Saturdays are actually less busy then Sundays.

We walked directly onto splash too with FP. literally we did not stop except for the one second to get directed to our number. Man was the standby line upset.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Yesterday afternoon/night was not nearly as bad as I was expecting. 15 minute waits for rides like Tower of Terror, big thunder, haunted mansion, etc. The CM at the ticket booth said that it has been pretty slow (compared to previous years) recently due to the recession...not a big shock

Hi
was visiting SoCal from 7/8/09-7/15/09 and the parks were packed but lines reasonably smooth. On Thursday night after the fireworks, 7/9/09 I rode the train after the fireworks, got off at NO Square and WALKED into the HM. It took 10 minutes to get around the Fantasmic crowd but when I arrived at Thunder Mountain (10:15 pm) it had just reopened. I was 7 minutes into a car! Had a great ride and then off to the hotel. Even on Sat. the park wasn't bad.

All of them.
Weekdays will have half the crowds.

All AP's are allowed on September. My advice would be to avoid it like the plague, but since you're going, I would suggest weekdays -- particularly Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

It's a Sunday in the middle of Summer.
Busy. Usually I'd give that a 9 (on the scale in Post #1), but the economy forces me to adjust that to about a 7.

September weekends are worse than July on current trends. Try to go weekdays.

Labor Day is blocked out to most passholders, it might be emptier. President's Day and Easter were a whole lot emptier than the weekends following them this year.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Just wanted to report that my Saturday birthday trip (Jul 18) was fabulous! We arrived at around 2PM, got our Annual Passports, and weren't expecting to get on too many rides but... managed Splash, Thunder, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Tower of Terror, and California Screamin'... let me emphasize how leisurely we were being, too... even took a Monorail trip to the ESPN Zone for dinner, and left right after the fireworks.

Sad that we won't be back till late August, but really excited that I finally have "access" again - I've missed this place!

Just an FYI - I think local schools are out on 9/16.
