Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Just out of curiosity... is there much difference between Christmas, New Years, and Independence Day in terms of attendance? (the 3 biggest days at DLR). OR are they about the same?

I am just curious, if anyone has experienced all 3...

Little prediction: week before and week after (or "of") Easter are 7-8 on my scale.
Easter is 4/12 this year.

They're all 11 on my scale.
There is not much noticeable crowd difference. 4-July will likely be hotter and sweatier, and Splash/Grizzly will have much longer wait times then than in "Winter."

Today was a great uncrowded day at the park although it would have been better if the rides were being run to capacity.

Cool Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Just went to DLR yesterday (January 12th) to pick up my Annual Pass. Shelia, the cast member that helped me with the pass, told me that this was THE week to be at the park. All the kids - even the year-rounders - were back in school and the crowds would be at a minimum. And man was she right! I walked around the park and the longest line I saw was for a corn dog near the Plaza Inn. All of the rides, Nemo included, had wait times of only 15-20 minutes and that estimate was a little on the high side. The park was blissfully free of teenagers and a majority of the small kids were in strollers. This made getting around a breeze. DCA was practically deserted. Next year, I am making point to be at Disneyland during the second week in January.

woo hoo
Just found out I'll be in the park next week Wed-Fri (Jan 21,22,23) - hoping the light crowds continue!
Last trip was Dec 28 -Jan 1. Should be less crowded than that anyway. he he

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Just a heads up for this 3 day weekend, Jan 16 -19. The NAMM Convention, as others have mentioned, it going to kick in to high gear tomorrow. I have no idea if the numbers will be affected by the economy or not, but the signage for Convention parking starts as you leave Brea on the 57 South and continues up Ball Rd. I can't remember specific numbers, but it seemed that someone mentioned that 50,000-85,000 folks will be converging on Anaheim for the weekend.

And with this spectacular weather and the birthday folks and their families, look for some longer lines.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

I was there from about 11 to 3 today and it really wasn't too bad. I didn't see any lines over 45 minutes and generally it was pretty easy to get around. Maybe the NAMM people won't be so bad this year.

Smile Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Any idea what it's like May 10-16?
Also, the Disney web page no longer shows park hours that far in advance..anybody have any idea when DL and CA open/close during these dates? Ride closures?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Can someone tell me what the crowds will be like Sunday, Feb. 8th thru Wednesday, Feb. 11th? I was expecting light crowds since Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, and Matterhorn will be closed, but IASW will just have opened several days prior. What can I expect?

Sounds like an empty week. HM should be open by then, though, unless they're updating some major part of the attraction. It's usually open by the end of January. (Maybe conversion Refurb started late?)
