Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Wow. Haunted Mansion had a hour wait last night, with a line I had never seen before, going in front of the train station and around the fountain in the plaza. When we got to the back corner area of the house outside, rarely used, after the zig zags by the crypts. The line stopped from 25 minutes idk why. I waited an hour and half for haunted mansion lol.
Im going to Disneyland monday, what should I expect from crowds?

With Halloweentime ending Sunday (Nov.1), Monday should comparably be much better. Plus, if you look at the resort hours, Disneyland closes by 8pm and DCA by 6pm. Shorter operating hours = lighter crowds.

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

I will be visiting family for the weekend in LA and am contemplating taking my daughter to DL and DCA for the day on Friday, Nov. 13th. I know that is the first weekend of Christmas decorations and will be understandably busy, but do you think the Friday (especially early morning and afternoon) will be insane? Mind you, my daughter is little and I am pregnant, so we won't be looking to go on any "big" rides.

We will be there the afternoon of the 21st (Saturday), Sunday and Monday.

What will the crowds be like?

Weekends are busy (8-9 on the scale.)
Monday might not be (maybe a 5 -- get there early, do everything you just cannot miss).

GENERAL UPDATE for all:
Weekends are 8-9 on scale (discussed in Post #1).
Weekdays are nice (3's-4's) in the morning, increasing to 8's-9's at night, as people get off work and get a few hours of escape in.

I cannot determine any low-crowd days for the rest of the year. Rain will help. Very cold (50's for SoCal'ers) will help.
I'm not sure if this will be any different next year. (Cue ominous music.)

Re: When Will it Be Busy at Disneyland - 2009 Edition

Hi! i'm new here. I've spent the last hour reading the tons of posts in this forum.

i've been going to Disneyland since 1956 (every month or more) and this year is no exception. We're going Nov 12th, the day after Veterans day. Anyone think, because its Thursday (and the hours are 10-8) it will be less crowded.

We're still going to go no matter what, i was just wondering.

thanks

DebiDeb,

DL's best days are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but since you're going the day after Veteran's Day, you might get people stretching out the holiday, or, check up on the Anaheim Convention Center event schedule. What do they have going on? You might do alright.

Any news on how this week has been? Do you think next week will be about the same (excluding Wednesday-Veteran's Day)? I'm getting excited, only 3 more days!!!

Be prepared for HEAVY crowds. During those days you have people who are on winter break still and people who are going for New Years. I went two years ago during those days and the crowds were the worst on New Years Eve. On that day, arrive early and get your hand stamped because disneyland will most likely reach capacity.

November 9 and 10 should be a good day to go. But count on heavier crowds later in the day when ppl stop by and relax at the park after a long day at work/school.
I've never been to DLR on Veterans day but since LAUSD schools are not in session that day, my guess is it will be busy.

DLR has set their "busy" hours up for that day.
I'm flying down from Seattle and will be there no matter what.

Personally, I'm hoping it will be slower in the morning and then pick up in the afternoon. Because a lot of businesses I don't think will be honoring Veteran's day on Wednesday and because the kids only get one day off in the middle of the week, I'm thinking that kids will want to sleep in, and that parents won't take their kids until later in the day.

Also, the SoCal Select pass has Veteran's Day as a black out day.
So...
*Fingers crossed*

First off, welcome to MiceChat! It's great to have you with us.

Unfortunately, the week you have chosen to visit is historically maybe the busiest single week of the year, at least if there's no inclement weather, and rain seems to have been outlawed here in SoCal.

Prepare for the parks to be packed, as mentioned previously.

Usual busy day tips...Get there early, perhaps take a break in the mid-day, then come back for the late afternoon and evening...I'm assuming local AP's are blacked out that week.

Have a great time!
