Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

This honestly makes me want to cry. PoD is my second favorite Disneyland parade EVER(first being MSEP), and that version of Welcome has pretty much been the theme song of this year for me. It's going to be really sad not to hear it in the park anymore.

Whatever replaces it, if anything, had better be just as good, if not better.

WDW isn't getting Parade of Dreams. They're getting a new version of their current parade, Disney Dreams Come True, which will become Celebrate Disney Dreams Come True, & should run through 2011, when a new parade will debut for the 40th anniversary.
We'll see. I see no reason for them to remove POD if they weren't sending it to another resort. It's possible that WDW will receive it after the Celebrate campaign is over, or even as the so-called "new" parade you mentioned for the 40th. The all-purpose MK parade needs to be put to sleep, and this is the perfect opportunity. That, or send it to the other needy resort, Hong Kong Disneyland. Heck, save it for Shanghai if that ever happens; but don't let POD die yet.

Ugh. That's the second updated version of that parade, which is not that good in the first place. First the Share a Dream Come True Parade, now Disney Dreams Come True, and soon to be this. 10 years is too long for a mediocre parade that was only designed to last 5 max.

You can only re-package the same thing so many times.

No, WDW is going to be getting an entirely new parade for its 40th.

The opening & finale floats are going to be getting a version of the "Celebrate You" theme song for What Will You Celebrate?. The remainder of the parade will keep its current soundtrack. Actually, the Mickey opening float is currently out of the parade to get some changes done. Mickey is in the finale float at the moment.

I must admit, I really love the "Disney Dreams Come True" song!

Let's wait for an official announcement before you start making it sound like it's official.

I know that. I always go by official things. But the most concrete thing I've heard is that they're getting an entirely new parade for the 40th.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I remember when you said that the most concrete thing you heard about Space Mountain's 2003 closing was that a car derailed.

Anywho, if the Parade does disappear, here's hoping it goes to WDW. They deserve it after eight years of the same basic parade.

I think letting the entire cast know that the parade is leaving is pretty confirmed. They wouldn't post a press release announcing that they are getting rid of a perfectly good parade because of budget cuts. The same thing happened with POTS. When it went down for Christmas the cast was told that it would be coming back, but then halfway through Christmas they were all informed that it would no longer be coming back and they would be doing cavalcades instead.

Also the only characters that have been confirmed for Celebrate so far are the Fab 5.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

Aww no more PoD is sadness for me. Like SkeletonStockings said, Welcome was the theme song for this year. It will be such a special parade to me forever and always. I have amazing memories with this parade, like blowing kisses to Peter Pan, following the Wonderland float, and cheering for the pink flower. So many great moments were had because of that parade and it will be missed.

The next parade better be pretty freaking amazing to fill in for PoD. I don't care if you guys say it "overstayed its welcome", it is hard to deny that it was a good parade. The floats were so colorful and creative. The music was fun and catchy. It was a great parade.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I don't agree with people who say it's "overstayed its welcome." When you visit Disneyland once a year, and your time there is crammed into a few mere days that viewing the parade is the last thing on your list, it's nice to know you will be able to see it at a later point in time. Seeing it once was a year was definitely good for me, and I will miss it.
