Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

If DL goes without a "real" parade all next year, a lot of guests who travel to the park to "celebrate" are going to be very disappointed and angry. I'd wager a fair amount that if they do not offer a parade in DL besides the new street show (ie, bringing MSEP into the park), they will get so many tourists complaining (and maybe screaming) at City Hall that they will have to add some major entertainment mid-way through the year. I mean, I'm a local and can do without a parade for 8 months and will just be sad about it, but someone who's bringing their family on a rare trip to Disneyland expects a major parade through Disneyland park.

History buffs, has the park ever been without a real parade for an extended period of time before?

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

As of right now there is no official word from the Disney Company as to the status of the Parade of Dreams.

I told everyone before, rumors are simply that until the Company puts out a press release. There are many rumors coming from Cast Members who aren't even in the parade department; now given that there was a meeting with all parade performers about this, and a few things were announced, these announcements are Company information until made officially public by said Company.

That would be MY dream to get rid of Parade of Dreams! It's run its course. Time for something new and fresh!

I wouldn't count on the Princesses or Alice/Hatter being in the Celebrations street show. It doesn't look like they have face characters planned for it. But with POD canceled, they might expand it a bit.

haha awesome!

One time when the parade stopped. The white rabbits ribbon broke and all the Alice characters gathered around him and started playing their ribbons like instruments and The White Rabbit was the conductor.

I never laughed so hard in my life!

THE ALICE ORCHESTRA!!!! That was so funny! Alice was playing the trumpet, Tweedle Dee and Dum were using their as guitars, and Hatter was being the drummer. My gosh, I wish I got a picture of that.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

This makes me very sad, to say the least. I'm glad MGB and I watched both performances on the last day but I didn't watch it knowing it would be the last time for good.

I forgot all about the Alice orchestra. I'm only now realizing the ridiculous amounts of memories POD created. I wish I could be kind of optimistic like MGB and Kritter and just be thankful for those memories but I can't help but be a Debbie Downer and focus on the fact that it's done and what that means. No more making faces at Tink, no more Pepper, no more yelling for Pink and Red flower, no more horrible singing and passionate fist pumping with MGB and Kritter, etc.

I find that a lot of people are saying that...but I think that when they see this new "street party" that's being planned, they're going to be pretty disappointed.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I don't think that Parade of Dreams was all that bad, but it is time to retire it. It was much better than the Parade Of The Stars which we has to suffer though from 2000-2004.

That is what I most fear. The whole theme for next year has me really REALLY worried about things. Banners, parades, etc. All of it looks/feels/sounds really cheap and gimmicky.

The Parade of Dreams was lavish, over the top, had beautifully artistic floats and wonderful music. It was incredibly well thought out, put together and presented. I guarantee that whatever is coming next is not going to top it.

And if your only complaint against it is that it stayed to long, or that it makes it hard to get from East to West, then those are fairly weak complaints. It stayed for it's contracted run, so it was not overstayed. It packed crowds in repeatedly because it was a beautiful parade. If you had some trouble getting from one side of the park to another, I think that is an awfully small price to pay for Disney to keep itself at the high standard it stands for and to make millions of people happy over the last 5 years.

Also...
Weren't they going to be paving the street soon? Does this signal the start of that project?
