Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I think it is probably one of the best parades in Disney history and I hope they find a good follow-up for 2009. Maybe a "Princess and the Frog" parade?

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

See if I can remember some fun I had with POD.

1. I remember one time I was sitting on Main Street but the corner of the Empolum store. Alice's Float had stop by there for there show stop. Alice had see me singing the welcome song and she came to me and told me to clap. I was clapping a little bit and she was moving but when she came back to me she said clap and she would take both of my hands and start claping them together.

2. It would have to be with the same Alice. This was many times when I saw the parade back in 07. When her float was passing by she would see me and blew kisses at me and show heart with her hand. One time in the same year she saw me and started to jump up and down and pointing at me. At first I didn't know if it was for me or the kid in front of me. So when I pointed at me Alice shook [ms] her head up and down and said yes you.

3. Another fun time was when I just got my new Mad Hatter hat. I had put it on so Mad Hatter can see it. Sure enough he did. He was doing his lines and he saw me and he when something like this with the words. No room no room exsept for you with my hat. Alice hear him and she goes where and Hatter points at me and Alice goes. That's an imposter Hatter goes I know what imposter Alice said that he has your hat. He then said oh I know I like him in it.

4. Oh it was just this year with Aurora. She had seen me from other times in the pass and she knows I take pictures of her. Well on this day I was thinking of not taking any pictures of the parade. I was on the Tommorrowland side and this time I didn't have on one of my Aurora shirt but she had seen me and with her hands she was asking where my camera was. I had pointed to her saying that it was in my fanty pack. She was looking at me like well take it out. The float was moving and I was trying to take it out but was having trouble of doing it. I look up and she gave me a sad look by the time I got my camera out she was almost out of camera veiw. But she gave me a heart hands.

I think I got more but I got to try and remember what they where about. I am so much going to miss POD. The best parade that Disneyland has ever done.

2009 will have the Celebrate! A Street Party parade, & 2010 should have the 55th anniversary parade, currently rumored to be called World of Wonder.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

Maybe they are recasting?????

Let's not forget.

A. There is a sponsor who is still sponsoring other shows so they should be funding this one.

B. These floats are relatively new.

C. Could it just be a recast and Disney just hasn't hammered out dates yet?

D. Would Disney be so dumb as to do this to their most popular parade in a while?

Well, they did have a re-casting/audition date on December 7th., but it got taken off the audition scheduling. But, who knows?

So it Didn't happen or they casted and then let go the new cast?

If POD wouldn't be coming back until March, then a recast wouldn't be needed until February.

It got cancelled, but a new date never showed up.

So now we can only wait. Like I said, there is no date needed until February, so they probably didn't want to start early.

Here is who I'm going to miss. At one performance he came over to me and I gave him a kiss.

I do hope it does come back next year for I can get some more pics with Aurora for the last time and have some pics with Ariel and Belle.

Usually they put a date up about a month and half before the actual audition, from what I've seen in the past (ya know, so they give people time to practice and get their material ready). We will just have to see, but I have a few friends who work this parade who have been telling me that the future is bleak for them right now. Let's keep our fingers crossed and HOPE that this rumor is false.

I will have some people that will be sure to send letters

I really don't care if MSEP comes back to Disneyland, because honestly I would prefer POD.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I just have to say (in response to all the "overstayed its welcome" stuff), I think we Disneylanders are totally spoiled. Disney World (Magic Kingdom specifically) has had that same parade for so so so long that it's almost laughable. Heck, they just barely got rid of Stars & Motorcars and Jammin' in the Jungle has been the only parade at AK (heck, they just basically put garland on the floats to make it holiday themed)
When we had Parade of the Stars, that one over stayed. POD is memorable and fun and of much better construction. Now we get this inbetween "thing"... now we should be really upset (not over having a great rewatchable parade for 4-ish years)

I totally agree. I can watch Disneyland's entertainment for years and not get tired with it. Those who say it is over-stayed and would prefer a crappy street parade either need to watch parades less or really though, put it in perspective.
