Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

i've been wondering myself if DL didn't just want to lay off the current performers of that parade because the hiatus from the paving and the holidays will be so long and just start afresh. it seems plausible. we'll see i guess!

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

I personally am sad to hear POD is leaving, it's an amazing parade. I only hope whatever takes its place will be as fun and elaborate. Also I hope POD gets to travel to other parks before being dismantled.

alot of the performers in the parade are actually the meet and greet characters as well so they will just go into rotation for being in the park

and on that note...I would like to see the 3 good faires out in the park, especially since SBC is reopened

and the Blue Fairy should make an appearance by Pinoccio for a greet

Does anyone else agree?

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

Not to get off topic here well it's a little off topic. Is it ture that Disney still has the float for Ariel and the Blue Fairy for Parade of the Stars or not. Cause if I remeber right I hear something about that last year that there the only two float that Disneyland kept and destory the rest?

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

i remember when someone made a thread that this past novemeber was going to be the last performance for p.o.d. but then when i checked the disneyland website, the p.o.d. page stated the parade would return sometime in february...

but now when i went to check it today, it had the same notice as before except the return date was changed to a very vague "spring 2009."
i hope the parade at least stays until the end of 09.
i need closure...hahaha, especially since the last time i got to see p.o.d., the pinocchio show stop had no bungee pupeets...so sad.

of course i agree! the blue fairy is clearly the best part of pinocchio, and no one even knows who she is anymore. how sad!
or maybe i just like her because she's pretty AND tall!

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

Parade of Dreams has not overstayed its welcome. Look at the Disney Dreams Come True Parade at Disney World. It has been there since the 90s. And Fantasmic! has been at Disneyland for 16 years.

Re: Goodbye Parade of Dreams?

Count me in among those that will miss Parade of Dreams. While I knew it would leave DL when the 55th Anniversary rolled around, the premature ending makes me a bit sad.

But I can deal with being a bit sad. Given the current state of the economy, I understand that ALL business, including Disneyland, are having to make difficult choices. (OT: my department at work was asked to cut 25% from our 2009 budget. That's not small potatoes.)

However, that doesn't lessen the blow for those many guests that visit the park and miss out on POD. This smaller scale Celebrate street party just doesn't seem like a proper replacement. And given the scaled back plans for the Princess Fantasy Faire (not too many MiceChatters seem upset about this though), the Entertainment Dept. seems to be absorbing a sizable portion of the budget cuts.

Regardless, I hope (but not counting on it) that perhaps the scale of the Celebrate parties become a bit larger in order to compensate. We'll see what happens next Spring.

Not completely true. I know several performers that will be out of jobs after Christmas Fantasy now.

POD not coming back isnt the end of the world. It wouldnt have come back for those few months as the parade that everyone knew.

A couple of changes I heard coming were some decorations for the opening float. Involving some balloons and fake confetti. Then there was talk of putting confetti blasters on all the floats. Of course the show stop music was going to be changing also which, like someone already stated, was already produced and choreographed.
