Rocker's 12/19 Trip Report with MMP, Huntress, and Rex Dopey 24

This Trip Report brought to you in part by 93.1 Jack F.M- playing what they want.

    December 19, 2008- Part I: The Morning

Today was the last day to go before the crowds started to kick in for the Holidays. So MMP asked me if I was going to Disneyland on Friday, and I said I was so we decided to meet up along with Rex Dopey 24 for a day at the park.

The new Celebrate Today signs were up for the new year

    More Celebrate Today banners up

The left side of the Security check was the least crowded- go for the lesser of two evils

    Okay, into the park

I had called MMP, and he had told me that he was in line for the Mad Tea Party, so I decided to go meet him in Fantasyland.

The Disneyland Railroad Station towers over the decorated lamppost

The Mad Hatter store on Main Street

The pink and white flowers around the hub

MickeyMousePal and Huntress getting off of Mad Tea Party

    MickeyMousePal's older brother, Pedro

We decided to head on over to Alice, since it only had a ten minute wait. Alice is a dark ride that is really growing on me. One of the sequences I like is the doorknob at the beginning of the ride, and the "All in the Golden Afternoon" sequence.

    The Three Pantojas

MMP's brother loves to videotape rides- and it shows.

After Alice, MMP and me decided to head on over to Matterhorn before it got crowded.

    Matterhorn Bobsleds

The sun trying to peak over the Matterhorn.

    "You- no flash!"

I hadn't been on Matterhorn for a while. It is usually one of my favorite attractions in Fantasyland, despite a 30 minute wait most of the time.

After Matterhorn, we voted for "It's a small world holiday." IASW holiday is beautiful, and I think that they do a great job with it.

Doesn't that remind you of Stewie from "Family Guy"?

Hey, where is the middle soldier there?!

    The North Pole

"Okay, I got the booze, I got the chicks, I got the nachos....let's get this party started!"

    More sets from the ride

This is probably my favorite part of IASW holiday. The scope of the arches are amazing, and it really has that feel of the mexican culture.

I like this- this is very unique, and has a strong message

Hey, the soldier is missing on this side, too!

ISAW is always great at the holidays. It's got the catchy song (although altered),and my favorite part is of course the Feliz Navidad sequence.

When we got off, Pedro wanted to go to Toontown, and so we decided to head on over for a ride on RR.

"Hey, why is me getting a fastpass so amusing to you?

"Because you are about to get hit on the head by a safe."

"What do you think you are doing, CHUMP?!"

"Who are you callin' a chump, CHIMP?"

"Don't let me catch your peepin' face around here again, got it?"

Roger Rabbit is a fun ride, but not a favorite- it is kind of cheesy.

After Roger Rabbit, we realized that we were going to meet Rex Dopey 24 at the hub around noon. But we still had some time, so we decided to have some fun in Toontown.

"Hey, it's the time machine from 'Napoleon Dynamite'- let's see if it really works!"

"It's a piece of crap- it doesn't work!"

"Thought you might have figured that out, Napolean."

I had told MickeyMousePal I hadn't seen the Sleeping Beauty walkthough yet, so we decided to head on over there, but first we had to stop by Tommarowland to get Fastpasses for Space Mountain.

    "Gimme Gimme Gimme!"

I'll have more in a while. To be continued...

    Contiuning where I left off...

After getting a fastpass for Space Mountain, I hadn't had an opprotunity to see the Sleeping Beauty diorama since it had re-opened. So we headed on over there and we decided to have a look at it.

    Sleeping Beauty Castle Entrance

"Hail Princess Aurora! Health to the Princess- Wealth to the Princess."

" Burn every pin wheel there is."

" The curse was changed to an eternal sleep"

SNow White called- she wants her movie back

For all you Harry Potter fans, I'm sorry but that does not take you to the Chamber of Secrets.

    "Yum, yum- eat 'em up."

Here my thoughts about the diorama:

This is a great re-boot of a classic. The special effects in this diorama are terrific, and I especially liked the spinning wheel scene- it is a good reboot on it.

After the diorama, it was time to go meet Rex Dopey 24 at the hub.

    Rex Dopey 24

We sat around the hub, and we discussed what we were going to eat. After tossing around some suggestions, we decided to settle on Taste Pilot's Grill. But before we could head on over there, we decided to head on over to The Sleeping Beauty walk-through because Rex Dopey 24 wanted to see it, so we decided to go over there...again.

"Hey, MickeyMousePal, how does it feel that you are going to go to the Sleeping Beauty Diorama for the third time?"

    "TWO THUMBS UP!"

    A baloon flew away

    The Fantastic Four signal
After going through the Sleeping Beauty Castle again, we headed on over to Taste Pilot's Grill to get some lunch.

    The Taste Pilot's Grill

    Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks for the grub.

Rex Dopey 24- McDonald's new spokeperson

    Trouble rehydrating

Taste Pilot's is the only restaraunt that has decent burgers. I ordered the chili cheeseburger, and man it was good!

After lunch, we discussed a little bit about where to go to next. It was voted that we should head on over to the Hollywood Pictures Backlot to go on Monster's Inc.

So long, year of a million dreams- we hardly knew ya!

The new souveniers in the "Off the Page" shop

Monster's Inc: Mike and Sulley to the Rescue

Hey, no food or drink on this ride!

Dude, we just ate- no snacks!

Monster's Inc. is an okay ride- I do like the sets and all, but it's not really anything special. The only real thing that is special is Roz at the end of the ride- when she says something.

After Monsters, I hadn't seen Aladdin in a while, so we decided to head on over to Hyperion to catch the next showing of Aladdin.

Us caught in the moment- from the left to the right: Rex Dopey 24, Huntress, MickeyMousePal, me, and Pedro.

    Huntress found a leaf

    "Nyuk! Nyuk! Nyuk!"

Timon parking lot from the top of the Hyperion

    The Hyperion Theater from inside

Unfortunately, the show ended up being cancelled due to technical difficulties, so that was a bummer. As a backup plan, we decided to play a little bit around the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, and take some photos around the scenery.

    The New York Gang

    Us around the UK telephone

    Don't lose your head

    MickeyMousePal and Wall-E

All of us around Wall-E. As you can see, i was trying to do the Wall-E pose.

All right, I'll have the rest up tomarrow. Gotta go!

Re: Rocker's 12/19 Trip Report with MMP, Huntress, and Rex Dopey 24

Sorry, my computer is running a little slow, so it took me a little while to get the rest of the photos up.

Anyway, after we played around HPB for a little while, we voted that we should automatically head on over to the ToT.

    The Tower of Terror

    A bird in the queue

Huntress decided to sit this one out this time.

    "AAAAHHHHH!!! WE'RE GONNA DIE!!!"

After Tower, we were still in DCA, and so we decided to go to Soarin' since we hadn't been on it in a very long time. We were going to get Fastpasses, but the line was short, so we headed on it.

    The Monorail came overhead

    Soarin'

    The Entrance

Soarin' is one ride that is always fun, and we even got the front row- all the way to the top. A classic.

After Soarin,' MMP wanted to go to California Screamin, so it was decided to take Golden State all the way to Paradise Pier. However, on the way, MMP joked about going on Grizzly.

Grizzly with a 2 minute wait

Rex Dopey 24 decided to go on it, but we didn't want to get sick since it was so cold, so he went alone and decided to catch up with us a little later.

While on the way to Screamin,' we noticed some interesting activity in the now-drained lagoon:

Mother Duck was leading her clan across the lagoon

Someone's birthday button had fallen into the lagoon

MMP posing for the new billboard that replaced the Burger Invasion

    Huntress

Okay, I'll stop now. Let's get to screamin.'

MMP gettin' his fastpass as usual

Someone spilled green and blue paint onto one of the walls

Rex Dopey 24 came back from Grizzly drenched

Screamin' is always fun to go on. I never tire of it.

After Screamin,' we decided to head on over TSMM and go on Single Rider. I'll be honest with you: I am actually not a fan of the Single Rider line for TSMM. It moves really slowly.

MMP and his TSMM playing glove

    The highest scores on TSMM

In my opinion, TSMM is a much better ride than BLAB, but it is just a shooting ride.

After TSMM, we talked for a little bit, and so we decided to head on back to Disneyland for a bite.

    The streets of Saint Francis

The entrance lit up at night

When we got inside, we wanted to know where to go to get a bite. We were not looking for anything big (Since it wasn't time for dinner), and I suggested the Mint Julep Bar since they had good funnel cakes. We all agreed, and so we headed on over to NOS.

    The Christmas wreath above NOS

"So when are we going to get OUR turn into club 33?"

    The Mint Julep Bar

    "Cross Spoons"

The funnel cake had the whipped cream topped like Mickey's head. I never noticed that until now.

I like the funnel cakes at NOS- it is probably the best dessert in all of Disneyland (apart from the Ice cream).

After our snack, we headed on over to Haunted Mansion Holiday to get some fastpasses, and so we headed on over to Space Mountain since we had fastpasses from earlier in the afternoon.

    The Castle at night

    Space Mountain at night

"If you are having second thoughts, turn around right now."

"Hey, no pictures of my face!"

After Space, we came to realize that Tomarrowland attractions had short waits, so we headed on over to Star Tours for a ride.

    Star Tours

Trash on the floor for the queue

After Star Tours, MMP wanted to go on a favorite of his: BLAB. Since he scores so much on it, I decided to go with it.

    The entrance to BLAB

Focus on that one million, young padawan

I got two of them and I am not afraid to use them!!

The time was nearing for me to head out. The last trip to Disneyland for 2008. 7:00 was coming, and it was time for me to head out.

    See ya guys in 2009!

At the end of the day, this ending up being the most fun I have had in a long time. Despite chilly weather, the lines were not long at all, everything ended up going fine, and we got to go on what we want. Until 2009, this is....

    THE END

Great TR! We were there Friday also and were suprised how light the lines were at most rides. I guess the 2 weeks off will give my feet a break from all the walking we did this year at the resort!

Rocker, thanks for the great trip report! It looks like you guys all had a blast and made your last trip for 2008 a memorable one.

I especially liked the photo of the funnel cake. YUM-O! I wasn't hungry, but now...mmmmmm. And the photo of MMP getting hit with a giant block in Toontown? Classic.
