I found two sources that say that A Christmas Fantasy Parade started in 1995.

Okay so the parade is 13 years old.

It was 1995 I think. . I remember watching it to see what it looked liked when it premiered.

I can see how the opening float is the same. One of the Renaissance ones looks just like the Candlelight Christmas Ball float. But none of the rest look similar.

As the link you posted on the next page states, that float was around during the Very Merry Christmas Parade as well.

We have a confirmation on 1995. I'm compiling all of my home video Christmas footage onto one Family Christmas DVD and I just came across the Christmas Fantasy Parade in 1995. My two year old daughter is bouncing up and down. Sebastian the crab, the pooh characters, little kids in pajamas dancing with pooh, etc, etc. Chip and Dale were on the ice pond rather than Mickey and Minnie.

So...yeah. 1995 seems to be the year.

OMG GOWD YOU USED THE WORD VERKLEMPT I LOVE YOU!

this may be off topic but has anyone noticed the lyric

"...carolers sing a bright refrain, come and sing along with me..."
Perhaps Disney played with the concept of singing along. Signs of this may be the carolers that sang "live" into mics. hmmm

I hate to bother very one. And I have no site to show what I am talking about but.... I was born in 1986 and my parents had bought me a poster from disney of the parade (mind you it was a drawing and not a photograph) but it had the raised mickey and minnie skating and the gingerbread men as well as the reindeer and the soilders. I do not have the poster anymore. MY little brother tore it up in a fit of rage may years ago.

Yes, The Christmas Fantasy Parade debuted in 1995. That was the first Christmas I worked there and still have the Disneyland Line for the debut.

I loved the Very Merry Christmas Parade, it was like 45 minutes long. The Jungle Book unit was my favorite.
