![]() | Medical Emergency on the Monorail? Hi, I was at Disneyland yesterday about to board the monorail when the CMs told everyone to clear out since there was a medical emergency on the DtD side. It must have been around 6:30 PMish-does anyone know more about this? |

![]() | Re: Medical Emergency on the Monorail? If you're referring to sunday, then yes. I was in line for the monorail (red) and we were next to get on. A guest had a heart attack when he was boarding. They closed it up and reopened 40 minutes later (or so). |

![]() | Re: Medical Emergency on the Monorail? Do they train all CM's or Leads in CPR and how to operate the numerous AED's (Automated Diffribulator device) they have placed all over Disneyland? I would like to please remind everyone to please make it a priority to get certified in CPR and use of a AED by taking a short low cost course from the Red Cross or the American Heart Association. Together we can be the difference if someone lives or dies if they have a heart attack! The time it takes for first aid or Paramedics to arrive is usually at least 5-10 minutes if the person is lucky, those are critical minutes lost and that is where bystander trained CPR and AED use comes into play. Find an Emergency Cardiovascular Care Class Here are some CPR facts that perhaps you may not have known # About 75 percent to 80 percent of all out-of-hospital cardiac arrests happen at home, so being trained to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can mean the difference between life and death for a loved one. # Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double a victim’s chance of survival. # CPR helps maintain vital blood flow to the heart and brain and increases the amount of time that an electric shock from a defibrillator can be effective. # Approximately 95 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. # Death from sudden cardiac arrest is not inevitable. If more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. # Brain death starts to occur four to six minutes after someone experiences cardiac arrest if no CPR and defibrillation occurs during that time. # If bystander CPR is not provided, a sudden cardiac arrest victim’s chances of survival fall 7 percent to 10 percent for every minute of delay until defibrillation. Few attempts at resuscitation are successful if CPR and defibrillation are not provided within minutes of collapse. |

![]() | Re: Medical Emergency on the Monorail? I am fortunate in that as a teacher's aide it is mandatory for me to take the CPR course. The school pays for it and I am happy to take it. We have also been shown how to use an AED. They are very simple to use as the instructions are printed right in them so that anyone can use it in an emergency. Now we have to worry about Good Samaritans getting sued. Not that this would stop me from helping someone, it might cause some to think twice about helping someone. Very sad. See story here.

![]() | Re: Medical Emergency on the Monorail? The father of a close family to us had a heart attack while eating popcorn right in front of the castle (what a place) But he didn't ask for any help, actually he even drove himself to the hospital. It's a miracle he survived. I hope this guy/girl is well right now too. |
