Princess Gardens

This idea will lead to the removal of Princess Fantasy Faire. The princesses will receive a lush, beautiful garden with meet and greet area to meet the princesses. This will be located where the current Carnation Plaza is. That means that the Community Arts Theatre will have to be re-built in either Toontown, Tomorrowland, or Critter Country (just suggestions.)

But what to do with the Fantasyland Theatre? Either a Beauty and the Beast dark ride or a new show or some small dark rides.

Re: Princess Gardens

I like this idea.. MK has a small area for princesses near the castle as well... I would always see Belle reading to children there.

Although I personally would hate to see Carnation Plaza go... The Carnation Co. doesnt really sponsor or serve refreshments there anymore.

If this area was to be redone for Princesses it would have to be done simple enough to match all the Princesses. Also scheduled times for the different Princesses would have to be made up, as the area isnt big enough for all of them to out at one time.

Or even just make this area the Character Garden. all the different face characters not just the princesses could go there and tell stories. The area would have to change much and the main dance floor could remain and still be used at night when the characters "go to sleep".

As for the idea of a new "E" attraction for FL, I fully support that idea...make the skyway Chalet part of the queue.

Re: Princess Gardens

Great idea!!! But you wouldn't even have to relocate the theater there. Just retheme it to fit the garden-look. Maybe a large gazebo???!!!! That would work!!

Re: Princess Gardens

They pretty much already had gardens... the paths around the castle. Why not just put them back there? It's a beautiful location.

Of course, they've already taken out Ariel's garden.

I agree that a new show should come to the Fantasyland Theatre. But I don't really think there's room for any dark rides without removing the whole venue, and then probably only one.

Re: Princess Gardens

I love that idea, the princess shoppe is close so they can go back to the storytelling in there as well as the princess stuff. Also it is a more cost effective method for a character meet and greet. It can go back to the way it was.

Re: Princess Gardens

Good feedback, guys! I like the idea of keeping the theatre.

Technically that would be the Nestle Co. which Disney negotiated with to keep the name Carnation in reference to the Plaza even though the actual sponsorship has now ended...

While I would enjoy a new location for the Princesses, I think using the area of the old Motorboat Lagoon would be a better locale then stealing the charm of Carnation Plaza.

I would however like to see a refurbishment of the Carnation Plaza, possibly adding a snacking location etc...

Carnation Gardens is a very quiet and peaceful area of the park.

It is also extremely historical. Do you know who actually performed on that stage? The greats -- Count Basie, Louis Armstrong, Woody Herman and so on... Closing down that stage is not much different than closing down Carnegie Hall itself -- and that is no hyperbole.

I say no way.

Re: Princess Gardens

I would just love it if they took that whole darn Princess area out and bring back the theater and shows. I miss those shows and it was great to rest in there and see some great Theme Park entertainment like nobody but Disney does. I know they don't make money by doing this, but it sure brings in the people. Everyone of those original shows from Beauty and the Beast to Pocahontas to the last one were great stage shows with wonderful live talent. Every one of those were full house productions.

Re: Princess Gardens

Psh! Why does this have to go in Carnation Plaza? (I kinda think it doesn't fit there) Just tear down the tent and put the garden in there.

But location issues aside, I love the idea! PFF is pretty tacky looking, so having a garden-type area would be great. It would look amazing and feel a lot more natural/real.

Re: Princess Gardens

Keep Carnation Plaza as-is, but bring in more acts - like the good old days.

Move the Princesses to the smoking area by the old motorboat queue.

Return the Fantasyland Theater back to a REAL theater with REAL shows again.

Re: Princess Gardens

Actually, I think it would be best to move the princesses to the Carnation Gardens. You actually don't need to change anything. The princesses could just come out and meet with kids and tell stories and take pictures. They can put up a few signs directing them to the pricess shop (which as we all know is becoming a beuty parlor) and the castle walkthrough. It just makes more sense to have the princesses by the castle. The best part is is that they don't have to change the stage and can use it at night when needed. They once served food in the area, so I'm sure making a snack bar wouldn't be hard. Each princesses could have a little arch by the wall where the tables are.

Re: Princess Gardens

I never go to the Princess Fantasy Faire. However, the idea to have a Princess Garden is a good one. Having the princesses under that giant roof seems out-of-place and tacky.

I don't know that the Carnation Plaza is the best place--perhaps with some sprucing up--but I really like your idea.
