Carthay Theater DCA

I think they should run Snow White throughout the day in the Carthay Theater. Disney can have a theater set up, so we can watch the movie in a model of the original theater. I'm sure lots of people would stop in for a scene or two, especially to rest up during the hot summer of Socal. They could even sell popcorn and soda in the lobby if they want to make more money. Or else they could run all the Disney movies throughout the entire day ---- guests could stop by and see what is playing and stay for as long as they want.

Hmmm, I'd like that. Especially as, now that my mom's given away my old videos, I can't watch some of the older Disney movies anymore. And a spot to rest your feet would be cool. ^_^

Very good idea!!! They could even decorate the theater like how it did at the opening of Snow White with antique popcorn machines and stuff like that!!! Great idea!!! i would take advantage of it for sure!!!

Ignoring the fact that there will be probably be no actual theatre built behind the soon-to-come facade...

I don't see Disney "throwing away" their lucrative film library as a theme park giveaway or simply to provide a reason to have guests take up residence for possibly hours at a time in any one location. They spend quite a bit of time designing home entertainment releases and opportunities to showcase their films at a premimum ticket price at their El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

I see this having as much a chance as adding benches in attraction queues as another thread suggests. Why not churro and ice cream carts too? Hhmmmm, what else can we add to slow down lines, create unnessessary obstacles and take up needed space?

I think it's a great idea. Realistically no one is going to watch the whole film. As it stands 'Aladdin' pushes the scope for how long folks will watch a show in a theme park. But the theming would be great and it serves not just nostalgia, but also as adverstising for whatever is shown.
Want to get people pumped up? Show movies that are currently in the vault. That would be an extra service for folks paying theme park admission. I think it would work great.

Disney currently showcases it's "6 original rubber cartoons" on Mainstreet. Granted seeing a full length feature like Snow White is a bit different but I think people would welcome the chance to see Snow White... or countless other classics... on the big screen! Where I see an issue is getting people to leave after an appropriate period of time so there is room for someone new. A more appropriate show might be the various "making of" segments usually spliced in as a preview on the old Disney Classics VHS... those are nice, entertaining, educational, and more important... short...

People generally don't stay long enough to see the Main Street Cinema cartoons from beginning to end. Why do you think they'll stay long enough to see a full length feature for well over an hour or so?

Thumbs down Re: Carthay Theater DCA

I would be against this idea. I would rather have nothing in there. Why waste the money on an idea like this? People pay too much money to get into a Disney park to waste time just sitting and watching a movie.

"Rubber" is actually an annimation term used to describe the flexibility of the early black& white cartoon characters (compare Steam Boat Willie to a much later Mickey cartoon and what I am describing becomes obvious).

That was addressed directly below what you quoted... specifically

20 to 30 minutes seems to be the breaking point in most people's attention span at a theme park. That's what the majority of the shows are based on, and honestly I think 20min would be pushing it for a cartoon or "making of" based film. I think showing the various "making of" specials would add variety, and likely encourage people to either stay longer or repeat visit.
