    Disneyland changes

What, in your opinion, are the areas of Disneyland Park that have changed the most since the opening day and what are the ones that are almost as they were...I'm not just talking about lands, it can be a corner, a square, a path or even an entire land. Just curious to hear your opinions

    Re: Disneyland changes

I can't think of one area that hasn't changed at all. Even Fantasyland's core was shifted around. Main Street is fairly much the same as it was, generally speaking, but has had many little changes.

All of the planted areas have changed dramatically. On opening day the plantings were so new, and a lot of the areas were bare earth.

Even the train track has been shifted about and relaid...

What hasn't changed much? The Western Town set is pretty much the same as when cowboys had shootouts amongst the scale buildings. Only they've moved location somewhat and are now a backdrop to Thunder Mountain.
    Disney FAQ#275: What is DCA?
DCA stands for Disney Construction Area. All the Cast Members are themed with hard hats and steel toed boots.

Nope...it's STILL a place where people wander around aimlessly wishing they were at Disneyland instead

I may have to agree with Tomorrowland as well. Compare the opening day Tomorrowland with the 1967 overhaul. Very, very little of the original world of tomorrow remained.

    Re: Disneyland changes

I think a lot has changed.

I remember as a kid that the buildings on Main Street use to have a brown, white, and reddish color. Ever since I say the last couple of years they have added a lot of color to the buildings. These days the buildings on Main Street have blue, green, red, white, yellow, teal colors on the buildings.

As for little changes here and there...can't really think of any.

    Re: Disneyland changes

New Orleans Square has changed the most by far. Besides the whole new land and two mega-attractions that were created, the train used to be much closer in, there was an Indian Village about where the entrance to Pirates is, there was a bridge over the waterway that went from ROA to Jungle Cruise and you'd routinely see pickup trucks parked where HM is today. Talk about change!

Not to mention that there are Pirate sails above NOS that you can see if you look across from TSI.

The now-dead Holidayland. Does that count?
I am a rabid Disney fan. Possible future Imagineer (already designing rides for it)... I've only been to Disneyland. I'm hoping to go to Disney World this summer for the first time, and TDR might be possible in 3 years.

Actually - the Disneyland Hotel may have changed the most overall. Gone are all the original rooms. Gone is the whole Hotel area near the Monorail. The first tower didn't come until a few years in existance.

Gone is the original swimming pool and a whole slew of other things....

I only know all of this from the Disneyland Hotel book that I bought a year or so ago...great book.
