Talking The Year of a Million Dreams is over!

I have been waiting two and a half years to post this. The Year of a Million Dreams is finally over.

Well, almost... Those who have been entering the "27 months of over 2.25 million prizes" still have to wait until March for the prizes that wer handed out in the parks in December.....

    Ugh.

It was an alright celebration, but it ran far too long. I enjoyed it while it was here and I'll miss some aspects of it like the light-up ears (which I forgot to get) and the silver and blue banners.

Bring on Celebrate Today, I guess.

Ugh... we now have to hear the annoying theme song to WWYC for months on end.

It was alright. Although something about the new "Celebration" thing seems less gimmicky somehow. I mean, you're already a winner if you just get in the park for free on your b-day.

I just can't help but wonder if the promos are ever going to stop. They're not super-intrusive or anything, but IIRC they weren't doing these things before 2005, except every 5 years when the park turns 30/35/40/45 etc... Ever since the 50th they've been doing some sort of "event" thing annually.

Good thing I stopped first thing in December.

Praise the Lord!! Halleluyah!! It was about time!! Thank God!! Kaputs!! Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you cheap gimmick you!!
I wish WDW would follow suit pronto!!

Now, shall we start taking bets about how long we'll be celebrating daily at DLR/WDW??

Sheesh...was it really that bad? All it took was a little "I'm ignoring that and I'm spending time the way I want to at Disneyland" and all would be good.

Ok I have to admit.. we had overkill "Year of Million Dreams" banners all over WDW and inside the parks, so it wasn't that easy to look away and not see one. Maybe DLR had more restrain in their use?

I thought the YOMD was pretty fun. Since I had a Premium AP, it was fun going almost everyday during the summer for pin-trading and looking out for the CM giving out the prizes. The only Dream item I didn't get was the lanyard and of course, the dream suite and the Mickey penthouse prizes. Just over the period that Disney held the celebration, I have over 20 Dream Fastpasses and 15 dream hats. Anyways, it was awesome that the CMs handed out "free" stuff.

It's kind of hard to ignore when there is a banner EVERY 5 FEET.
