Smile Pirates of the Caribbean cannonballs ...

So can you feel the cannonballs whiz by your head in the fort bombardment scene as they do in WDW? In WDW you have to be in the right place at the right time, but on occasion I could feel a puff of air as the cannonball "flew" by. I did not detect this in the Disneyland Pirates, but then again I may not have been in the right place when it happened (if it does).

Thanks, and of course we loved Disneyland's Pirates! The pirate theme on Tom Sawyer's Island was also a welcome change (although we couldn't get in the fort to snipe at people in line for Splash Mtn. like you can at WDW).

    Yes.

I have felt the "cannon ball" whiz by my head several times.

    And...

Am I the only one who actually prefers the WDW pirates?

I suggest you duck! If you can actually feel the whiz of the cannon ball as it goes by, that means it is *really* close to your head! And trust me, you don't want to get hit by one - they're hard and they hurt. I got hit by one when I was a lot younger, but luckily, it hasn't affected me too much.

I have felt that effect several times. You do need to be in the right place/time to feel it.

I've felt the "cannonballs" fly right past me many times, and each time, get's me spooked. One flew so close that it went right past my left ear and my friends right ear where we were sitting. Close enough for you?

I've gotten blasted by a cannonball to the face once, and felt them several times. And I've gotten significantly splashed by the water. So yes, it's very possible to feel the effects of those warring scalawags!

They hit me like a sack of bricks almost every time I set sail with the pirates. And right, square in the face, too. And then the water splash usually gets me, too.

I've only felt it at Disneyland once, but I really got a kick out of it. Whenever I go through there, I hope to have another "near miss."

Am I the only evil one who wants to have a semi sunken boat placed out there that resembles the ride boats? I have a similar thought about the hippo pool in Jungle!

For sure the cannonballs were blasting by. The last 5 or 6 times I've gone on I haven't felt them. Perhaps I was in the wrong place. It's a great effect, I sure hope it's still there.

This is honestly the first time I've ever heard this statement. The only reason I can think is someone doesn't like the ride and they prefer a shorter voyage or a small hill.
