Recent Non- Pixar Movies?

Just wondering, it seems that any attraction in the works and based on a movie released in the past 5 years or so, happens to be from a Pixar title. Whether it's Finding Nemo Subs or Carsland or Toy Story Mania, it's all Pixar. Not to say Pixar's bad, cause they're great, and the ideas for the rides are good. But the past few Disney- only animated releases have been plenty good and would made just a great additions to the parks. Even if it's simply rethemeing part of Innoventions as Meet the Robinsons, or using the old millionaire building for a Bolt dog show, it's would be nice to acknowledge the more recent sans- Pixar titles the studio has released. Or could I be asking too soon, and for all we know Meet the Robinsons could be part of a new Tomorrowland or Bolt could be in the Hollywood Studios section of the DCA makeover that might be still in the think tank?

Closest is Pixie Hollow. As much as I loved Bolt, it simply did not make a killing at the Box Office. Of the animated films, Disney has not been able to touch Pixar for years. There are 'classic' Disney animated films getting the attraction treatment, what with the resurrection of the Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough, and the promised to be astonishing Little Mermaid Attraction.
I don't see anything changing for the time being, unless the the upcoming Frog Princess is a huge hit.

Tower of Terror is not part of a Pixar film and DCA got Tower of Terror back in 2004.
DCA is also getting a dark ride based on The Little Mermaid in about 3 years and it's not from a Pixar film.

I personally don't think either of those films merits much representation in the parks. I believe that a place in the parks is an honor for a film and should be treated as such. Only the most popular and significant films should be given the opportunity to have any permanent placement in the parks. There are a few films that are under-represented IMO, but they are not from the last five years. Those I would include on that list off the top of my head are Mary Poppins, Bambi, The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. I'm sure there are a few others, but those are films that certainly deserve more representation.

I would love to see a dark ride based on The Lion King, Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty or Beauty and the Beast, but Fantasyland doesn't have that much room.
My second guess would to add more dark rides in DCA.

I was actually going to add Aladdin and SB to my list too, but since they do have a fair amount of representation in forms other than dark rides I left them off. I agree though, a magic carpet dark ride, like a melding of Pan and Indy is a dream attraction that I've wanted to see since the first time I saw Aladdin.

Or get rid of the current ones that no one visits :O.....oh I said it...Indeed they're classics but that doesn't make them good or worth keeping. (in my opinion) Especially Snow White...yuck!

Re: Recent Non- Pixar Movies?

Also, don't forget we need dark rides for the third gate. In the plan I'm developing I have attractions based on Lion King, Marry Poppins, and Aladdin. I would probably try and fit B&B into Fantasyland.

Re: Recent Non- Pixar Movies?

Tarzan got a treehouse.

I really like Hercules, and would love a suspensed darkride, where you ride pegasus, see Hades, Mt Olympus, etc! That movie has such a wide variety of scenes that would be fun to see in 3d.

Lilo and Stitch would make for a fun Dark ride, maybe a spaceship, Hawaii and outer space all in one darkride.

I would also LOVE a Jungle Book ride - THAT movie is WAY UNDER REPRESENTED in DL, although it is older. Also 101 dalmatians is under reprepresented, the only thing you see is Cruella.

Re: Recent Non- Pixar Movies?

Let's not think just at Disneyland but the entire Disney line of parks. So if you look at a property like Lilo & Stitch, they get a Ohana food thing at the hotels in CA, he has a Great Escape in Florida, an Encounter in Paris and Hong Kong, and Tiki Room in Tokyo.

I personally think attractions on films be done only when and where it fits. If there is no more room in Disneyland, then build elsewhere that really needs it. (although our tomorrowland needs something more most definitely).

And for those who haven't seen it, i made a thread listing every Disney (and pixar) animated movie and a listing of every attraction, restaurant, shop, or show that was based upon it... from every disney theme park on the globe.

Disney Rides and the Animated Films that Inspired them
