ANAHEIM, Calif. -- A Tustin man is to be arraigned Wednesday for alleged DUI in connection with a crash near Disneyland that left a Canadian woman and her two children injured.
Willie Moss, 53, was behind the wheel of a black Toyota Camry when he allegedly ran a red light at Katella Avenue and West Street about 8:30 p.m. Monday, and the vehicle struck the three pedestrians -- Christine Hildebrand and her 7- and 10-year-old sons, Anaheim police said.
Police said the victims were in a marked crosswalk. Witnesses told police that the woman was crossing with the green light and that Moss ran the red light, Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez said.
The victims had left Disneyland and were on the way back to the motel where they were staying, Martinez said.
Moss had some marijuana with him, Martinez said, but he did not know how much. Moss was arrested for being under the influence of alcohol, not the marijuana, the sergeant said.
Hildebrand, who suffered a broken nose and a compound fracture of a leg, underwent surgery Tuesday and is "in better condition than yesterday," Martinez said.
Her children were treated for moderate injuries, then released from the hospital, Martinez said. They were with their father Tuesday morning.
Susan Mancia of UCI Medical Center said the woman is "recovering and in fair condition."
"She's conscious and speaking," Mancia said.
Moss, who is being held at the Anaheim Detention Center, is to be arraigned Wednesday in Fullerton.

Wow from Tustin? You don't hear us in the news too often. How odd. And tragic.

I cross that cross walk often. Drivers run that light a lot. Quite a few just fly as if its a raceway. I hope the Anaheim PD starts looking at this area a little closer.
